Methodological issues

• Indicator comes from the women’s questionnaire• Is not a direct question on literacy since this

overestimates• Respondents with primary education or less are

given simple sentences to read• Important to provide sentences in local language –

this is about literacy in any language, not the language of the questionnaire or the official language
