ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), a premier self financed engineering college was started in the year 1985 and is managed by Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust. The college conducts 10 B.E/ B.Tech Degree Courses and 5 PG Courses in Engineering and Computer Applications. The courses are approved by AICTE. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The College is situated in a quiet environment about 37 Kms from Chennai on the Chennai – Bangalore National Highway (NH4) at Pennalur, Sriperumbudur. High Speed Internet connectivity is available.

ABOUT THE DE PA RTMENT

The Department of EEE was started in the year 1994. The Post graduate program (M.E) in Power Electronics and Drives was started in 2002.There are about 30 faculty members in the department. The UG program in the department has been accredited by the NBA for a period of 5 years. The Anna University affiliated Research Center functions from the year 2006.

Field Programmable Hardware (FPGAs) provides the processing power for products that drive a wide range of applications. With the advent of FPGAs we have entered the era of reconfigurable computing. The power of programmability in FPGAs can not only act as a sort of system -level silicon super-glue, sitting at the periphery of the circuit board making anything to connect to anything else, but also as a complete System on a Configurable Chip. Configurable embedded processors allow you to easily create a microprocessor-based system that is customized to match your application requirements.

Through this workshop we try to provide interesting implementation of Image processing system into the world of FPGAs. The workshop will provide an understanding of Design and implementation flow involved in FPGA based platform. Hands on session will provide the participants with tool usage experience under the guidance of expert instructors from ENIXS reinforcing the design and implementation steps covered in the lectures.

This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of NIOS II processor in image processing system and how we can use peripherals and memory modules to capture, store and display in the imaging system. And discussion about best possible Image processing architecture and discusses how FPGAs

can be used as a platform for System-on-Chip designs. Live session will provide to the participants on tool usage by the expert instructors. The design and implementation steps covered in the lecture. The main objective of the workshop focuses the image processing flow in FPGA and primary implementation of that.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED

• Introduction to Image Processing in NIOS II Processor.

• Interfacing the external peripheral for image processing.

• Loading image in Flash, SDRAM and zip file system.

• Image processing architecture and image formats.• Complete image processing frame work, loading,

processing and displaying images using Altera tools.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The workshop is suitable for UG and PG students of the discipline EEE,ECE,IT & CSE. The Faculties from the above mentioned discipline can also attend the workshop. The Engineers from the Industry aspiring to work in their area also welcome to attend the workshop.
