Boston College has mandated that all computer labs across the University manage printing using the Pharos print management system. The Law Library Pharos Print stations are available in the Lutch Computer Center (LIB 300), the Fleet Legal Research Lab (LIB 253), and the Computer Assisted Learning Centers (LIB 155). The Pharos print management system is also installed in the Career Services Library (East Wing, 210A). The Pharos print management system works with the EagleOne ID card. All computers in the library’s labs and in the Career Services Library are configured to print using the Pharos System. BC Law students using the library lab and Career Services computers simply need to select the print command, walk to any release station in the library or Career Services Library, and follow the posted directions to retrieve their print job. These instructions are provided to BC Law students wishing to print from their personal laptops equipped with Macintosh OS 10.4 or higher. Students with laptops equipped with older versions of OS X should upgrade their systems at least OS X 10.5. BC does not provide free copies or upgrades of the Macintosh OS; please visit an Apple Store or apple.com to purchase OS X. If you need help installing OS X, you may visit the Law Library’s Student Computer Help Center (LIB 205) Monday through Friday at the posted times. Click through all the Continue and Agreebuttons until you come to the Install screen
Click Install
Type in your Administrator username andpassword and click OK
The driver will install

Pharos 8 Installation
To download and install Pharos software go to:https://download.bc.edu/applications/print/Popup.dmg
When prompted, enter your BC username andpassword.
If prompted, save the file to your desktop.
Double-click the Popup.dmg icon on yourdesktop to begin installation.
Click Continue.
Click Continue
Click Install
When prompted, enter the name and passwordyou use to sign in to your computer, and thenclick OK.

Setup: OS X 10.5 Leopard (skip to pg. 8 for Setup for OSX 10.4 Tiger)
From the Apple menu, select SystemPreferences
Double-click the Print & Fax icon.
Click the + [plus button]
Hold down <Ctrl> and click anywhere on theToolbar

Select Customize Toolbar
Drag and drop the Advanced icon onto theToolbar
Once the Advanced icon is added to theToolbar, click Done

In the Advanced tab, do the following:
From the Type drop-down list, select PharosPrint Server.
In the URL box, type: popup://pharos-ps1.bc.edu:515/LawLibrary
In the Name box, type: Law Library
From the Print Using drop-down list, select HPLaserJet 4350
Click Add.
The Law Library Printer is now added
When printing to the Law Library, be sure toenter your BC username when prompted

Setup: OS X 10.4 Tiger
Open the Printer Setup Utility, which is locatedon your Macintosh HardDrive/Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility.
At the top of the Printer Setup Utility windowclick Add.
Hold the Option key down and Click(Option +Click) on the More Printers button
In the pull down menu select “Advanced”

Nota Bene: If you do not Option + Click youwill NOT see the Advanced option
Fill in the following information
In the Device pull down menu select "PharosPrint Server"
Device Name type in "LawLibrary"
Device URI type inpopup://pharos-ps1:515/LawLibrary
In the Printer Model pull down menu select"HP"
In the bottom portion select the model "HPLaserjet 4350 Series"
Click "Add"
Is now added to your Printer Setup Utility menu.
Now, when you print, be sure to select theLAWLIBRARY printer if you wish to print in theLaw Library labs.
This is the screen that will pop up when youprint to a Pharos Print Queue
Simply enter in your BC user Name and clickPrint
Congratulations! You have completed the necessary steps to add the LawLibrary Pharos printer queue toyour computer.
