Adding Slide Transitions

A slide transition is the way one slide changes to the next in Slide Show view.

Animations Tab: pause pointer over a Transition icon to preview effects and display Screen Tip with name of transition.

Advance Slides: On Mouse Click

Animations Automatically After and specify the time interval

To specify different timing for each slide: Slide Show Rehearse Timings

After rehearsing presentation, the time each slide was displayed is saved with the presentation.

Animating Objects on a Slide Animation is a visual effect in which objects appear

to move. Text and objects can be animated to move onto a

slide To animate text or an object, click the text or select

the object and then click Animations Animate Object: select an animation such as Fade or Wipe For text:

Select All at Once under animation to have text transition at same time

Select by 1st Level Paragraph to have each bulleted item transition one by one

Remove Animation: select text and click Animations Animate No Animations

Custom Animation Use Custom Animation

to:

Make adjustments to an animation and to the order of animated items

Click Animations Custom Animations

Numbers identify each animated element and the order in which they appear are displayed on the slide

Numbers in the task pane list correspond to numbers on the slide next to animated objects.

Select a numbered item in the list to view the animation details: the action that causes

animation to start, and

the direction and speed of the animations

Click Play to preview animation

Click or to change the order of the selected items.

Click Change to apply a different animation or modify options

Select Remove to delete animation effects from selected items

Drawing Annotations in a Slide Show Annotations are markings

made on a slide that help the audience better understand the content

To add annotations in Slide Show view: Right-click and Select Pointer Options

Select pen type. Drag to draw on the slide Change color of ink:

Right-click and select ink color

Annotation Button appears during slide show, when you move the mouse over bottom left-hand corner—the annotation button can be selected here.

Remove annotations: User Eraser or select Erase

All Ink on Slide

Select Arrow to return arrow to pointer

When slide show is finished, a prompt will ask if you wish to Keep or Discard Annotations

A template usually includes: Customized layouts Placeholders that indicate

A theme Any changes to colors or

fonts

To create a new template: Format the presentation Select Save As to display

dialog box Select PowerPoint Template

in the Save As type list

To create a new presentation from a template: Select Office Button New Select My Templates Select a template, OK

Pre-installed templates: Office Button New Select Installed Templates

A PowerPoint template is saved with a .potx file extension.

Adding a Sound to a Slide Sound is an audio file

that can be added to a slide and played during a slide show

Click Insert Sound Sound from Clip Organizer to display ClipArt task pane

Select Sound Insert

A sound Icon is added to the slide and a dialog box is displayed:

Choose to play sound Automatically or When Clicked

Sound stops playing when another slide is clicked or when the sound file ends.

Sound Options

Click Preview or double-click the sound icon on the slide to play the sound once.

Click Slide Show Volume to adjust the overall volume for all slides

Select Hide During Show so that the sound icon is not displayed during the slide show

Select Loop Until Stopped to repeatedly play a sound until a different slide is displayed

Play Sound List displays options for when the sound is played in the slide show

Sound icon can be moved and sized like a picture.

Recording Sound Sound can be recorded

and attached to a slide by connecting a microphone to the computer Insert Sound

but is treated the same way in PowerPoint

Movies should add information or enhance a topic without distracting the audience from the topic.

Packaging a Presentation PowerPoint presentation that will be delivered in a

different location will need to be packaged.

All files associated with the slide show such as linked clips will need to be copied to a CD or a folder on a hard disk or storage medium.

Once packaged the folder can be moved to other computers or the CD can be copied or distributed.

Packaging for CD To copy an open PowerPoint presentation, select the Office

Button Publish Package for CD Type a name for the CD or the new folder in the Name the

CD box Select Add Files and select additional presentations and

files to add to the package, such as any linked movie files. Select Options to display a dialog box with options for the

Viewer, linked files, embedded fonts, and passwords that restrict opening or modifying the presentations

Click Copy to Folder to package presentation to a folder on the computer or network.

Click Copy to CD to package the presentation to a blank, writable CD in a writable CD drive.

Creating an HTML File and Publishing a Presentation to the Web HTML is the file format for documents viewed using a web

browser, such as documents on the Web Publishing a presentation means to place a copy of the

presentation in HTML format on a Web server or in a folder.

Save a presentation in HTML format: Select Office Button Save As Select Web page type in the Save as type list (.mhtml for

single file web page) Click Change Title to give the Web page a descriptive title

which is displayed in the Title bar of the browser. Select Publish to display a dialog box.

Creating a Photo Album Photo album feature is used to create a slide show of

pictures

To create a photo album presentation: Click Insert Photo Album New Photo Album

Select File/Disk to locate and select a picture file

Add pictures one by one to the list in the dialog box

After selecting a layout in the Picture layout list, select Captions below ALL Pictures to add caption to every slide

A Theme can be applied in the Theme box

To edit a photo album presentation, click Insert Photo Album Edit Photo Album which displays a dialog box of options
