NHSmail is moving to Microsoft Exchange 2007….…providing a user-friendly front end based on Outlook Web Access 2007 and

greater opportunities for additional features.

NHSmail will become a service at the forefront of email development

Benefits for organisations: • a secure email service that can be used for exchanging clinical and other

sensitive information;• a service based on Exchange 2007, effectively a service upgrade• centrally funded, so free at the point of use;• an email to SMS facility can be used to send patient appointment reminders,

free of charge, reducing DNA rates;• frees up budget currently spent on maintaining and upgrading email servers.

“NHSmail is uniquely placed to provide secure communications to the NHS and my objective for the service is to see it become as ubiquitous as phones or bleeps and to be understood by everyone that it is THE way to communicate securely with their colleagues.”

Dr Simon Eccles, Consultant in Emergency Medicine & NHSmail Senior Responsible Officer

legislation, the ISO 15489 Document Records Management Standard and the NHS Code of Practice for Records Management

• TRIM Context applies all the necessary structures and rules for ERM without impacting the end user. Documents can be saved directly into the system from with desktop applications and e-mail clients and SharePoint (MOSS 2007) collaboration sites.

• WHY TOWER and SharePoint (MOSS)? Has achieved VERS certification and complies with ISO 15489 Document Records Management Standard

and the e-GIF/e-GMS UK Government standards Audit trail/security around accessing of information Information stored electronically does not take up storage space Information readily available to those who are authorised to view it View, access & create TRIM documents/records via SharePoint Windows Leverage collaboration features of SharePoint

• Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation TRIM Context supports 7000 users by managing all non-clinical documents and improve access to information to support remote workers. As part of the Trust’s ongoing ‘Reshaping Health Services’ project, the system will enable a move away from paper-based processes, thus reducing the space & cost associated with the physical storage of files and documentation.
