07!Microsoft's SharePoint marketing refers to the “SharePoint Wheel" to help describe the package of functionality built into the SharePoint platform. The wheel refers to six abstract functional capabilities:

•The SharePoint platform fundamentally enables users to provision 'sites' (public or private) without a requirement for specialized knowledge. SharePoint is designed to become the central location for management of sites in an organization.

Sites

•SharePoint aims to support the formation of communities within an organization - these communities may form around teams, projects, clients, geographic locations, etc. SharePoint also provides social features and social integration.

Communities:

•SharePoint provides a central location to put content such as files, documents, or general information. This can be accessed and modified within a web browser or using a client application (typically Microsoft Office) via desktop or smartphone. SharePoint 2010 also provides a concurrent edit ability with Office 2010.

Content:

•SharePoint provides a range of search abilities, including in documents, in external content (such as network shares or public websites), and in user profiles.Search:

•SharePoint provides data integration, data crawling, and report design to enable business decision making. SharePoint can integrate with SQL Server Reporting Services to surface business intelligence.Insights:

• SharePoint provides an application platform based on ASP.NET 3.5 allowing no-code solutions to complex business problems using SharePoint Designer. SharePoint also allows custom code solutions to be deployed using Visual Studio.

xRM is Anything(x) Relationship Management. It is the concept of leveraging a flexible and powerful platform, and the applications sitting on that platform, to meet any and all business requirements.

xRM is a platform that use Microsoft Dynamics CRM and extend it for building Custom applications.

There are a couple of different definitions for XRM. One is that the “x” stands for extended , as in extended relationship management. The other definition is that the “x” is a variable, and means “anything” relationship management, such as partner relationship management, constituent relationship management, employee relationship management, etc. Both of these definitions are referring to building any application on top of the Microsoft Dynamics   CRM platform. Building an XRM application can take the form of customizing the existing customer relationship management applications that are included in Microsoft Dynamics  CRM, or by designing completely new line-of-business applications that are not based on the sales, service, or marketing capabilities included in Microsoft Dynamics  CRM. The common thread to all the definitions of XRM and methods of extending it is that your application will use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM as a platform, leveraging the capabilities of the platform to deliver business value to your users.

• SharePoint Widely used as CMS in an organization but some expert think of SharePoint as a BPM system. With the help of Windows Workflow Foundation and its related SharePoint workflow products like Nintex, K2, AgilePoint, Global 360, Metastorm creating Workflow for SharePoint has been improved.
