Micro Motion® 7829 Viscomaster Viscosity Meter AccessoriesThe Micro Motion® 7829 Viscomaster® viscosity meters are used for the measurement of viscosity, density, and temperature and are designed for installation in the process pipeline. A range of accessories have been created to simplify the installation task:
• Flow-through chambers (2˝ nominal bore) for in-line or slipstream/bypass loops
• Retro-fit kits for the simple replacement of alternate vibrating or capillary viscosity meters
• Blanking plugs
• ADView and ProLink (version 2.9 or later) configuration tools
• Viscosity controllers
Cone-seat fittings
The cone-seat fitting is the preferred method of Micro Motion to connect fork sensors into the process installation. Designed for compactness, low mass and high integrity sealing, they enable optimum performance in all application types.
The cone-seat fitting is based on the concept of a metal-to-metal seal, produced between dissimilar conical surfaces on the meter and accessory bodies.
Reliable and leak resistant – even under rapid process temperature and pressure changes – the cone-seat fitting does not rely upon threads, gaskets or O-rings to produce a consistent seal, unlike other viscosity technology designs.

Flow-through chambers
About the flow-through chamber
Micro Motion designed the flow-through chamber accessory to be used with all Viscomaster® viscosity meters. This accessory simplifies the installation of the meters in in-line and slipstream/bypass applications. The flow-through chamber has been designed to connect to 2˝ (DN50) nominal pipe bores, with a number of available flange variants. This chamber conditions the flow of the product over the meter so that flow rates of up to 20 m3/hr (88 gal/min) at temperatures up to 200 °C (392 °F) can be reliably measured.
The flow-through chamber provides the greatest flexibility to process variations, and should be considered where temperature and pressure changes are significant and the possibility of entrained air exists.

Retro-fit installation kits
VAF Viscosense Adapter kit
The VAF Viscosense Adapter kit is specifically designed to replicate the footprint of the VAF Viscosense chamber to allow you to easily install a Viscomaster viscosity meter without requiring changes to the pipework or flow system. Because the Viscomaster has no limitations on cable length or need for an interface box, wiring requirements for the installation of this meter are significantly reduced. No mounting for remote electronics housings near the meter are required. All major flange variants offered with the Viscosense are supported by the VAF Viscosense Adapter kit.

Universal Retrofit Adapter kit
Because the replacement and upgrade of existing or obsolete viscosity meter technologies does not always conform to the current installation dimensions, Micro Motion offers a Universal Retrofit Adapter kit that can accommodate most chamber sizes. This kit allows you to easily install a Viscomaster viscosity meter without requiring changes to the pipework or flow system.

VAF Viscotherm / Nakakita Adapter kit
The VAF Viscotherm / Nakakita Adapter kit is designed to attach to the Viscomaster viscosity meter, and is then inserted directly into either a VAF Viscotherm or Nakakita chamber. The capillary sensor and pump assemblies of the viscosity meters being replaced are no longer required with this retrofit. The flange fittings on this adapter kit are designed to fit directly onto the mating flanges of the existing capillary sensors.
Blanking plug
About the blanking plug
A blanking plug is used to close the meter entry point, if at any time you need to remove the meter and restore flowing conditions – such as for service or to flush the installation. The blanking plug is designed only for meter installations that use a cone-seat fitting.

• Consists of a securing nut and a cone-seat fitting plug, which provides the same sealing integrity as the meter
• Can be used with any cone-seat version of the flow-through chamber and pipeline weldolet accessories

Viscosity controllers
A range of panel-mount microprocessor-based viscosity controllers are available that can directly interface with the Viscomaster viscosity meters. These controllers use the meter viscosity output, or an external PT100, to control heaters for preconditioning fuel oils prior to combustion in large engines.
The controllers are available with single or dual channels, continuous or three-point control, and alarms for relay control. These devices have LED displays and are configured using simple menus. All controllers are panel mount and require a 230 V power supply.

(1) On dual-channel viscosity controllers, an additional 4–20 mA signal output is available. This output can be used for rescaling the viscosity input, but cannot be used for heater control.
