Pan

A pan is a movement where it scans a scene horizontally. The camera is placed on a tripod, which gives the camera a stationary axis point as it is turned left to right, often to follow a moving object or person. Here we can see the person picks up his blazer then moves to the right to turn off his lamp.

Diegetic• Diegetic sounds, are the sounds which the characters can hear or make. For

example in the film ‘Seven’, when it starts we can hear Morgan Freeman putting away cutlery in his kitchen, that is a diegetic sound.

Non-diegetic• Non-diegetic music is the sounds which the characters cannot hear. For example as

there is an extreme long shot of the city, there is music in the background, maybe to describe the city.
