INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE MODERN WORLD
In a competitive business environment, it pays to
stay ahead of the game. AREVA T&D offers complete
solutions for the entire energy chain, from primary
equipment to market management software.
THE M2X1 RANGE
The MiCOM M2x1 range comprises:
> M211 Non communicating Measurement Centre
> M231 Communicating Measurement Centre
> M241 Communicating Measurement Centre with Data Recorder
(See separate documents for M231 and M241)
EASYUSE CASE
All models in the range offer the benefits of the new EasyUse case, which uses
embedded ring current transformers, allowing cables to be passed through them
without the need for a termination connection . The result is simpler installation and
increased reliability of the current connection. If the cable needs to be terminated
there is a connection block fitted.
M211 NON COMMUNICATING MEASUREMENT CENTRE
The M211 Non communicating Measurement Centre provides quick, reliable
measurement and monitoring of electrical quantities in a single or three phase
electrical distribution system. It utilises fast microprocessor sampling of the input
current and voltage quantities to calculate a wide range of system parameters such as
energy, power and frequency.

BENEFITS
> Wide range of measurement parameters
> Accurate over a wide dynamic range
> Replaces separate energy meters and
instrumentation in cost sensitive applications
> Easily configured to actual system parameters
> Industry standard 96mm DIN case
APPLICATION
ENERGY MONITORING
The M211 is intended for use on systems where
energy monitoring and instrumentation are required,
providing Volts, Amps, Watts, Vars, VA, power factor,
and frequency, as well as metering for active and
reactive energy.
Demand values for current, active, reactive and
apparent power are also provided.
COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS
The M211 is more cost effective than using separate
devices, saving on hole punching and wiring costs - as
well as device costs and panel space costs.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
The M211 can be used on single or three phase
systems, with balanced or unbalanced loads.

DEMAND CALCULATION
The M211 is able to calculate Demand values using
fixed, thermal and sliding window methods.
Both Present Demand and Demand Since Last Reset
are available.
PULSED OUTPUTS
The M211 has two pulsed outputs which can be set to
correspond to any two of the four energy
measurements. These are set via the front menu and
can be disabled if not required. (see Fig 2)
CONFIGURATION
Two password controlled access levels are available.
The following settings are password protected:
> CT ratio
> VT Primary
> VT secondary
> System connection

HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
CASE
The M211 is housed in a DIN case with maximum
dimensions of 96mm by 96mm by 108mm.
(See Fig4 for dimensions)
DISPLAY
The front panel contains an illuminated dot matrix liquid
crystal display (LCD) with a large viewable area of
70mm by 38mm. Four pushbuttons provide access to
the M211 menu. See Fig 1 for typical screen views.
REAR CONNECTIONS
The auxiliary supply, pulsed output and measured
voltage use plug in M2.5 terminal blocks.
The current measuring circuit connections on the rear
are by means of individual embedded CTs, see Fig 5.
The current cables are passed through these CTs and
can be terminated on a separate terminal block.
See Fig 3 for rear case view.
