GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
Moose Brothers and Sisters, The summer is here! The S.C. Moose has donated money to the local Boys and Girls Club for their playground. Thank you Eu-gene for facilitating this. We are also working on upgrades for bathrooms for the Valley Churches facility. Jeff Duncan is re-sponsible for this project. It feels good to give to our local com-munity. We are desperately in need of kitchen volunteers. Please contact a board member if you want to take on a meal or just help out. In order to help the kitchen run smoother, it is now required to sign up or pre-pay for any Friday Night dinner by closing on the Tuesday before the dinner. Also, as a reminder dinner is scheduled from 6pm to 7:30pm, if you are a “no-show” or did not call by 6:30pm there is no guarantee that you will get a dinner. These two simple rules will help the kitchen manager and cooks plan their best meal for you and will help avoid wasting food. Thank you for your cooperation. Please check your calendars for upcoming events. I will be hav-ing a party on July 13 with a taco truck and live band. All mem-bers are welcome. At this party we will also celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday (no gifts please). Event will start at 6:00pm. Jeff Shaver also has a car show coming up. Please spread the word. We want a good group of cars. Non-members are welcome to this event. See Page 9.
Sincerely and Fraternally, Governor Jim Norkoli

ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE
Ladies and Gentlemen of 545, As of this moment in time, we have 321 active members in the lodge. 545 also has 50 Moose Legion members in Golden Spot 15. That’s better than 10%. I feel we can do better than that. I would like to see 20% by the end of 2020. Can we do it? Yes, we can. This just increases the support for the causes that the Moose Legion supports. District 10 is doing well, with our own Vince Martinez as the next District 10 President. Let’s all try to attend the District Socials, usually the first Saturday of the month, and support our new President. He takes office on October 1st. As you may well know, the lodge needs more cooks for Taco Tuesday’s, Fri-day night dinners and burger nights. If we don’t have cooks, the meal may be canceled. We don’t want that, do we? Even if you just help, it makes it easier on all of us. Join us, won’t you? We are trying to make the lodge better for its members. Have an idea? Bring it to our attention and we will see what we can do. No promises, but who knows, it might be time for a change.
LEGION MESSAGE
Hello out there! The Legion is alive and well. Our monthly Legion breakfasts have been going well. The Mothers Day breakfast is our biggest one of the year. This year we did 92 breakfasts with 43 of those free to Mothers of #545 Lodge. It takes a lot of work to put these events on. Thanks to all the volunteers for your help that make it happen. One of our Legion projects was to change out the lights in our parking lot and back deck to LED lights, We completed that job last week upgrading from 2100 watts burning all night to just 14 watts. WOW! That will pay for itself in no time. The total cost was $953 not to mention Kathy's Lift & Lighting Co. let us use their bucket truck at no charge!! A real big thanks to them. Our next project is to help the Boys & Girls Club of Scotts Valley with their new play ground. I would like to thank Perry James, Vince Martinez, Eugene Bustichi and Tom Ghio for stepping up and representing our lodge on the Golden Spot #15 Board of Officers. Hope to see you all at our next Legion meeting on July 18th. Lets have fun & work together. We have 50 Legionaries in our Lodge #545. Lets keep it increasing!. Lonnie Moseley, Legion Chairman

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
Moose Lodge #545 has members who consistently show their heart for volunteering. The Board of Officers want to recognize those members who exemplify the true meaning of volunteerism at this great Lodge. In an effort to show our appreciation the Board will be picking up their din-ner tabs for any Friday night dinners they attend during their month of recognition. For July 2019 - Paul exemplifies what was described above, he sees a need and he’ll step in. Paul has stepped up and crewed on hamburger nights as well as help-ing with Friday night dinners. Paul is a regular supporter of Moose func-tions and attends breakfasts and dinners on a regular basis, which by the way, is a great way to support the club. But something you might not be aware of is Paul’s help with the installation and continuing maintenance of our beautiful fish pond. Paul as helped and provided his professional and expert advice to our Lodge on how to build and maintain this oasis. Without his consistent help, the main features at the entry to our facility would look a whole lot different. The Board appreciates his service! Congratulations and thank you so much, Paul McKellar
For August 2019 - John has consistently served in various capacities over the years. He al-ways has a great crew for manning a burger night. He was an original for the Wine Down Wednesday program. He helps with Taco Tuesday. He has brought in new members to the Lodge. If we need help, John is some-one we know we can count on. His friendly and outgoing demeanor is something that members appreciate and he’s a plus that livens up the So-cial Quarters. He is willing to speak his mind and tries to motivate other members with new ideas. We appreciate your dedication and efforts! Congratulations and thank you so much, John Twaddle
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The date to sign up for Friday Night Dinners has been changed from Wednesday at closing
to Tuesday at closing.
Ladies of 545 MESSAGE
Hi Ladies of 545. . . . . . . Thank you to all of the Ladies that have been stepping up to help in the kitchen, but we desperately need more help especially for the breakfast on the first Sunday of the month. There is also a need for more Friday Night dinner help. If interested, check the calendar, speak to an officer. The July 19th’s Friday night dinner theme is “Back to School” benefiting Valley Churches United Missions. Donations of new backpacks (please no red or blue backpacks) and new school supplies will be collected. The next “Ladies of 545 Meeting” is on July 23rd at 6pm. It is ‘Taco Tues-day’ and you might just win a prize for attending!
