MICHIO KAKU Dr. Michio Kaku is an internationally recognized authority in theoretical physics and the environment. He holds the Henry Semat Professorship in Theoretical Physics at the City College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He has lectured around the world and his Ph.D. level textbooks are required reading at many of the top physics laboratories. Dr. Kaku graduated from Harvard in 1968, summa cum laude and number one in his physics class. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley Radiation Laboratory in 1972. He held a lectureship at Princeton University in 1973. He then joined the faculty at the City University of New York, where he has been a professor of theoretical physics for 25 years. His goal is to help complete Einstein's dream of a "theory of everything," a single equation, perhaps no more than one inch long, which will unify all the fundamental forces in the universe. He is the author of multiple books, such as Physics of the Future, Physics of the Impossible, and Parallel Worlds. His books, Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century and Hyperspace became international best-sellers. He hosts a weekly hour-long radio program on science on several stations around the country. According to Dr. Kaku, the basic physics of invisibility has been demonstrated sufficiently; it's merely an engineering problem now. Within a decade or so, the ability to make an object "totally vanish in one color" will be possible. Sometime after that, a cylinder made from 'metamaterials' may allow soldiers to become invisible. Dr. Kaku also speaks about teleportation, telepathy, global climate change, alternative energy, psychokinesis, perpetual motion machines, SETI, and the potential effects of WR 104, a binary star located 8,000 light years away.

Speech TopicsPhysics of the Future

In this talk based on his book, Physics of the Future: How Science Will Shape Human Destiny and Our Daily Lives by the Year 2100, Dr. Michio Kaku offers a stunning and provocative vision of the future. Based on interviews with over 300 of the world's top scientists, Kaku presents the revolutionary developments in medicine, computers, energy, quantum physics, and space travel that will change our lives and alter the course of civilization itself.

The Future of the Mind

In this talk based on his newest book, The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind, Dr. Kaku illustrates the stunning breakthroughs being made in neuroscience, which are finally beginning to unravel the mysteries of the most complex object in the known universe: the human brain. Dr. Kaku takes audiences on a grand tour of what the future might hold, explaining how the brain functions and how technologies will change our daily lives. He will present a radically new way to think about "consciousness" and provide fresh insights into mental illness, artificial intelligence and alien consciousness. Learn how what was once solely thought of as science fiction has become a startling reality.
