SpashyFrancorchamps one of the most challenging circuits in the world hostedthe fourth round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo EuropeChampionship this week VSR fielded two Huracaacutens with unchanged driverlineshyups ndash Kei Cozzolino and Shinya Michimi in the number 16 car and OliverRae and Jacopo Faccioni in the number 18 car

The circuit famous for its changeable weather was dry for qualifying and forthe first race both of which took place on Friday ItaloshyJapanese driver

Cozzolino set the 7th fastest time for race one securing himself a start from rowfour while Faccioni qualified his Huracaacuten on row nine After an incident freerolling start Cozzolino enjoyed a fine opening lap gaining two places He was

running comfortably in 5th place tucked under Mavlanovrsquos rear wing when thesafety car was called out on lap four neutralizing the race It took four laps toremove the damaged number 19 Gaillardo from the track and the pitshywindowwas already open when the safety car peeled off While the three leading carsopted to remain on track Cozzolino followed Mavlanov in but both drivers weredelayed behind the safety car as it made its way down pitshylane Cozzolinohanded the number 16 car over to his JapaneseshyAmerican teamshymate Michimi

and when the pit window closed they were in 6th place Meanwhile Rae hadtaken over the other VSR car but on lap eleven the Australia came to grief atthe fearsome Eau Rouge and the safety car was called out once more Whenracing resumed there were just seven minutes left to run Undeterred Michimimade a perfect restart and was harassing Zampieri as they headed into LaSource Having dispatched the Italian he then muscled his way past Spengler

to claim 4th The leading three cars had pulled away while Michimi battled pasthis rivals but the VSR driver was on a mission and was providing all the

excitement When they entered the final lap he had closed up to Barri in 3rd Hemade one attempt to pass but was forced offline by the Bonaldi driver so thenhung back before attacking again on the run up to the Bus Stop where hepulled off a decisive overtake and claimed the final podium place by just 0257seconds The teamrsquos joy was further increased when a postshyrace penalty for

winner Kujala promoted them to 2nd place

Heavy rain on Saturday morning soaked the Spa circuit for the second race of theweekend The number 18 car was sadly retired due to the damage sustained onFriday leaving Cozzolino and Michimi to uphold the team honours Michimi hadqualified the car on row three for the race but it was Cozzolino who started the raceFor both drivers it was not only their first experience of Spa in the rain it was alsotheir first chance to drive the Lamborghini Huracaacuten in wet conditions The circuit wasso treacherous that the race started under the safety car When the cars werereleased the field was quickly enveloped in thick spray and keeping the car on theroad and learning the track in the wet became the main aims of bothdrivers Cozzolino fell back to 8th place and was then tipped into a spin by Spengleron the lap he came into the pits to hand over to Michimi who took the flag in 9thplace

The series now takes a break until the middle of September when the Nurburgringwill host the last European round of the season
