Finally Fixing Michigan’s Roads

bridges

Current Situation

• 19 cents = 6% sales tax (20 cents) = 39 cents

• What you pay at the pump

• 80% of drivers believe that ALL of the taxes paid at the

pump go to roads

Explain what was passed

• Legislative/user fee road fix

• Eliminate 19 cent flat gas tax, replace with 14.9%

wholesale gas tax ($1.2 Billion for roads)

• Effective Oct. 1st 2015, tie-barred to May 5th ballot vote

• The equivalent to 42 cent gas tax, effectively a 3 cent

increase at the pump

• Ballot Vote

• Proposal 1 – 1% sales tax increase (from 6% to 7%)

and eliminate sales tax from fuel purchaces

• Schools - $300 Million increase

• Local - $100 Million increase
