School Improvement Plan Overview– The School Improvement Plan (SIP) is a planning tool

designed to address student achievement and system needs identified through the school's comprehensive needs assessment.

– The SIP provides a method for schools to address the school improvement planning requirements of Public Act 25 of the Revised School Code and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as applicable, including appropriate Title I requirements.

School Improvement Plan Overview

– This template also meets requirements for AdvancED Michigan/NCA Accreditation.

– The SIP is required to be submitted online by all schools September 1st of each year.

• SIP Report Criteria

– All Michigan schools must complete the SIP. – The content of the SIP will change slightly based

on the individual school types (i.e. Non Title, Title I, and Single Building Districts).

– Due to the report’s ability to dynamically change content, six variations of the report are electronically generated.

• Report Criteria- The content within Sections 2 - 5 and 8 – 10 are

common for all the reports. - The questions within these sections will be the same

for every variation of the report.

• Report Criteria – The questions within Sections 1 & 6 will change

based on whether a school is Non Title, Title I Targeted Assistance or Title I Schoolwide.

– The assurances within Section 7 will vary if a school is a Single Building District. Single Building Districts are required to provide responses for both school and district specific assurances.
