Ground Operations Detachment Commander Camp Bastion, Afghanistan Oct 2013 to Sept 2014Responsible for the training, readiness, and supervision of 32 Marines of diverse military occupational specialties in a combat environment; projects included vertical and horizontal construction, motor transportation, heavy equipment, and anti-terrorism/force protection aboard Camp Leatherneck and Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, SW Afghanistan.

Planned and executed the recovery of a CH-53E helicopter that crash landed on the runway in order to alleviate an obstruction to airfield operations aboard Camp Bastion and requisite support to the surrounding region.

Maintained, utilized, and assisted in the retrograde over $10 million in government property, equipment, and assets in order to properly turn over operations to the Afghanistan National Army upon withdrawal.

Planned and supervised several hundred hours of convoy training resulting in increased combat readiness. Planned and supervised 100 construction/force protections throughout Helmand Province, involving the

movement of 14 million pounds of cargo and 10,000 cubic yards of earth, resulting in increased security posture for all tenant units and a decreased likelihood of enemy or insider attacks.

Planned and executed the construction of a consolidated entry control point resulting in a 50% manpower reduction for all tenant units supporting the guard force.
