where bald eagles and river otters are still a common site.Start your day with a stroll along our beautiful Riverwalk located

on the banks of the Wabash River in downtown Peru. Along theRiverwalk, kids can enjoy the Miamisfort and our Skate Park. If

biking is more your style, take a ride on the Nickel Plate Trail, a pavedscenic trail that highlights some of Miami County’s picture perfectcountry side or check out the historic bike trails.If that’s not enough, the Mississinewa Reservoir offers great hiking

and horseback riding trails as well as fishing, boating, swimming andcamping. See the beautiful natural Seven Pillars and walk throughhistory on the Frances Slocum Trail.

What better way to spend a day than on one of our four golf courses.Rock Hollow, Leaning Tree, Peru Municipal and Indiana Oaks are each achallenge in their own right and you won’t want to leave without a chanceto play them all. Now if it is disc golf you enjoy, we have Honey BearHollow, Maconaquah Park and Mississinewa Park.

People from all over the country venture to Miami County to experienceour unique festivals. Events like the Cole Porter Festival, July 4thCelebration, Bunker Hill Festival, Hoosier Festival, Amboy Fall Fest,Converse Homecoming Days, Macy Days, Miami County 4H Fair, MexicoCommunity Garage Sale, Oktoberfest, Chili Cookoff and our DowntownChristmas Open House provide enjoyment for all seasons. During ourDowntown Christmas Open House, check out our stores that are open late,listen to great music, enjoy refreshments, parade, see Santa and a chance towin gift certificates.

The Circus City Festival is a tribute to our circus heritage. For nine daysbeginning the third week of July, the children of Miami County performfeats in a three ring circus that will leave you on the edge of your seat.There are food vendors, crafts, games and rides throughout downtown toenjoy during Circus City week. The last day of the festival features thelargest circus parade in the country.

If you are a real circus fan, you will want to visit the InternationalCircus Hall of Fame, located at the old Hagenbeck-Wallace WinterQuarters. The Hall of Fame features a circus museum full ofmemorabilia from many of the old American circuses. In the month of July, they feature a big top circus with acts from aroundthe world.

From May to September, we have our Farmer’s Market whichoffers local produce, herbs, honey, local crafts and homemadebaked goods.

Stand nose to nose with 24 legendary American aircrafts atthe Grissom Air Museum. Sit in the cockpits and learn thebasics of flight and navigation. Climb the five story alert towerfor a bird’s eye view of the historic planes.

If you like to get your heart racing, from April to October, comesee racing at Miami County Speedway and Bunker Hill Dragstrip. InAugust, the SCCA race will be at Grissom.

The Miami County Museum is one of the largest in the statefeaturing artifacts and memories from Miami County’s beginning toour recent past. See a stage coach from movie star Tom Mix, ColePorter’s 1955 Cadillac, a unique Miami Indian collection and much,much more. Visit Cole Porter’s birthplace and burial site not far fromthe museum.

The dining and shopping opportunities in Miami County are unique.Enjoy dining in one of our many family owned restaurants. Visit ourapple orchards where you will find along with row after row of appletrees, a petting zoo, gift shop and Christmas shop. In the fall, ourorchards hold weekend events where you can enjoy a hay ride and abonfire with local entertainment and food. See how wine is made andenjoy sampling the local wines of our region at Oak Hill Winery andalso try the hard cider and wine at McClure’s Orchard.

Enjoy a play with local talent at our Ole Olsen Theatre at the Depot.They will make you laugh or make you cry, but most definitely willallow you to spend the next couple of hours being entertained. PlayBingo at the Miami Indian Headquarters or go see a movie at the newfive screen state-of-the-art Roxy Movie Theater.

You can also see our PCS Fine Art gallery filled with paintings, potteryand sculptures from local artists. We have many talented artists thatwill amaze you with their paintings, drawings, jewelry, pottery and somuch more.

Listen to our local talent from jazz to pizzazz with our StringOrchestra, the Swampwater Stompers and Tuxedo Junction or if youlike something with a little bit of pop or rock listen to Mark and Troy,No Identity, Hollister Skipdog and Triphammer. Now if blues is yourstyle, then Jerome Mills Blues Band is the group for you! Enjoy ournew outdoor amphitheater with great entertainment.
