MIA AND THEMISSING MAGIC WAND
Mia and Rabbit had stayed at homebecause it had rained the whole day long. The thunderstorm had just stopped when
Mia heard faint sobbing. Curious, she ran to the window.
There, completely soaked, sat a little fairy on the windowsill,
crying. “Why are you crying?” Mia asked. The little fairy looked up. “I was caught inthe storm and crashed,” complained the
fairy. “My magic wand rolled intoa mouse hole, and I’m afraid
to go and get it!”
“And I alwaysthought fairies didn’t exist,”
said Rabbit. “Oh, but talking rabbitsare out hopping on every street corner
right?” retorted the little fairy.“Hmm,” said Rabbit.
He had not thought of that.
“Alright,” he said, “but what’sthe problem? Fairies can perform
magic!” “I’m just getting started as a fairy!I am still quite new!” said the little fairy.
“And without a magic wand, you cannot perform magic.
Everyone knows that!”
“Wait,” intervened Mia.“First I’ll get Mum’s hairdryer.”
And she used it to blowthe little fairy dry.
From Mia’s dollsshe was given new clothes.
Lastly Mia gave her a tiny dab ofcream on the nose. “This will definitelyhelp you,” Mia said. “Mum always does
that with me – it’s magic cream!”Indeed it seemed the little fairy
was doing a lot betterstraight away.
“Well, now we get the magicwand,” said Mia resolutely. “Rabbit, come to the mouse hole and help!”
“Mice, of all things,” groaned Rabbit,“with their endless squeaking.” Together,
they wandered into the garden untilthey came upon the mouse hole
the wand had fallen into.
Below they could hear the mice and the little fairy looked a bit afraid.“Don’t be frightened,” Mia encouragedher. “We are here and will watch out.
We promise!” The fairy crawled into themouse hole, but she didn’t stay there for
long: soon thereafter she came flyingout holding her magic wand.
“Thank you for your help! I’ll comevisit you again, I promise!” the fairy
giggled, relieved. Then a little showerof stardust came down on Mia and Rabbit.
“Well fine,” Rabbit complained.“And now how do I get the glitter
out of my fur?” But actually,he sounded very cheerful.
