We are pleased to welcome the 2018 keynote speaker, Barb

Kreski. Barb is the Director of the Horticultural Therapy Services

at the Chicago Botanic Garden. She is a registered horticultural

therapist, has a master’s degree in health sciences and a BA in

occupational therapy. She has incorporated plant and nature based

interventions in a wide range of clinical settings including pediatric

rehabilitation, public schools, skilled nursing facilities, psychiatric

hospitals and with veterans. We are honored to have her share her

knowledge & experiences with us at the MHTA annual conference.

Keynote Presentation: “Horticultural Therapy:

Let’s Get Ready and Get Going”

Interest in nature based activities and the people-plant interaction

continues to grow as research shows the positive impact on human

health and well-being. “Let’s get ready” by learning the basis for

horticultural therapy, current research studies and the many

benefits of utilizing horticultural and nature activities as therapy.

“Let’s get going” by hearing practical suggestions and the many

opportunities awaiting those that share this interest.
