DOES YOUR CHILD LOVE DRAMA?: Monarch Grove PTA is very excited to host the Missoula Children's Theater thisJanuary. Students will be performing Jack and the Beanstalk. Auditions will be held after school on Monday, January 6,from 3:00-5:00PM in the MPR. At the end of auditions, a rehearsal schedule will be distributed. Rehearsals will take placeafter school every day that week with a performance on Saturday, January 11. Permission slips to participate are due onWednesday, December 18. WINTER FOOD DRIVE: Our Junior Lighthouse team is taking the lead on the winter food drive. Blake Schafer, a fifth graderon the team, wants to share the following information with you. A Food Drive takes place when people want to collect foodto give to people who need it. It is important to help people in our community that do not have enough food. You can bring innon-perishable and canned food. Some options include food that stays in your cupboards like mac and cheese boxes,cereals, beans and canned soup. Bring the cans and other food items to the box in your classroom. The class that brings inthe most food by December 20th will win a popcorn party. All the food collected will stay right here in our community. Pleasedonate!

LIBRARY CORNER: Battle of the Books: Congratulations to our newest Battle qualifiers: 4th grader Milana Sanson and 5thgrader Reid Heffner! Student avatars are going up on the Battle bulletin board in the MPR so be sure to stop by when you'reon campus to check them out! Hour of Code: This week is National Computer Science Week and we are celebrating withHour of Code! Students in 4th and 5th grade will be creating with computer code during library and other classes will beparticipating in their classrooms. Adults can get in on the fun too - check out code.org and try your hand at coding! Want togift books this holiday season or for a birthday, but not sure where to start? FRIENDS AND FAMILY LUNCH: Our second of three Friends and Family Lunches is on Friday, December 20 from 12:10-12:50 PM. 1st-5th graders picnic with their friends and families. Adults often bring in special meals to share, like pizzas orsandwiches. TK and Kinder families are welcome to attend, too, as long as an adult accompanies the student. Pleasecommunicate with your child about plans for this day so we can avoid confusion, hurt feelings and tears. Our final Friendsand Family Lunch for the year is on Friday, April 3. Looking forward to seeing you at this fun event!

CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND: Make sure to check the lost and found before winter break. Items left behind will bedonated.

DENTAL SERVICES AT SCHOOL: The Virtual Dental Home Program (VDH) will be coming to Monarch Grove soon. If youexpressed interest in having your child receive dental services through VDH (Virtual Dental Home), an enrollment packet wassent home. Enrollment packets need to be returned and completed as soon as possible. If you did not receive an enrollmentpacket, there will be blank enrollment packets available at the front office. As a reminder, Virtual Dental Home is a dentalprogram being offered at select schools in the San Luis Unified School District. A hygienist provides services at schoolincluding X-rays, photographs of the mouth, a teeth cleaning, fluoride, and dental sealants. A dentist reviews the x-rays,photos and notes to make a diagnosis offsite. Parents will be informed of any services provided as well as any concerns thedentist has. Your child’s insurance will be billed for services provided. If your child does not have insurance scholarships areavailable. Please contact CaliDental at (805) 202-4988 or the VDH Dental Care Coordinator at (805) 699-1258 with anyquestions that you may have.
