Addis Ababa (January, 2015) – Israel and Germa-

ny marked the annual International Day, in

memory of the victims of the Holocaust, at the

United Nations compound in Addis Ababa. The

70th year anniversary of the liberation of Ausch-

witz and 50th year anniversary of the initiation of

diplomatic relations between Ger-

many and Israel were marked on

the event. Public lectures were

delivered by Dr. Robert Rozett,

Director of the Yad Vashem Li-

braries and Ambassador Felix

Klein, Special Representative of

the Federal Republic of Germany

for Relations with Jewish Institu-

tions, as part of the event. The

ceremony was based on UN Gen-

eral Assembly adopted resolution (A/RES/60/7) that con-

demns, "without reserve", all manifestations of religious intol-

erance, incitement, harassment or violence against persons or

communities based on ethnic origin or religious belief.

Rwandan government and the Kigali genocide me-

morial, the event recalled the various journeys tak-

en during the Holocaust period, from deportation to

incarceration to freedom, and how the experience

transformed the lives of those who endured it.

Kigali (January, 2015)-- Rwandans, foreign diplo-

mats and Israel residents from around the region

gathered at Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre in

Gisozi, to commemorate the Holocaust, when six

million jews were murdered during the World War

II. Events of the day involved a lecture by the Is-

raeli researcher Mr Yiftach Ashkenazi, from Yad

Vashem, Israel, whereby participants were taken

through the history of the Holocaust, its effects

and lessons to draw from it. Organized through

efforts by the United Nations representation in

Rwanda, Israeli Embassy, German embassy, the

velopment Cooperation

(MASHAV) provided horti-

cultural training to farmers

and Development Agents

(DAs) in Debre Birhan town

encompassing commercial

farms and adjacent farmers’

fields. The participants com-

prise farmers and DAs from

Basona Warana Woreda;

DAs from Ethiopian Institute

of Agricultural Research

(EIAR) – Holeta Research

with horticulture experts

from Amhara, Tigray, Oro-

miya, SNNP regional

states. The courses, given

from February 16 to 23,

2015, were focused on the

topic "Highland Fruit

Trees Production". The

program has now also

started establishing Nurse-

ry Center (Knowledge

Transfer Center) at Keyit

nursery site near Debre

Birhan. The training is a component of the

Small Holder Horticulture Program

(SHHP) designed under the trilateral devel-

opment cooperation by governments of Is-

rael, Ethiopia and the United States in or-

der to build the capacity of small scale

farmers.

old, Tadesse Dabi from Ethiopia,

wins 5th annual Jerusalem Marathon.

Tadesse crossed the finish line at

2:18:20h. some 25,000 runners from

60 different countries participated in

Addis Ababa (March, 2015) -- DCM Leo Vinovezky

paid a courtesy visit to the Bahai Center in Addis. Mr.

Vinovezky spoke with Mrs. Asnakech about faith and

human rights and also about the beautiful city of Haifa

where the Bahá'í World Centre, the spiritual and admin-

istrative heart of the Bahá'í community, is located.

Addis Ababa (March, 2015) — The monthly

Tobiya poetic jazz event in March was dedi-

cated to WOMEN as part of the celebration of

this year’s March 8 (International Women’s

Day). The Embassy Cultural Attaché, Monica

Manaker, performed on the event along with

wonderful female poets, Solome Tadesse,

Wudalat Gedamu, Misrak Terefe, Meleti Ki-

ros, Tsehay Melaku, Rediyet Terefe and Yet-

deputy Leo Vinovezky, joined Ambassador Haskel

together with the Agric. Expert, Mr. Haim Tager,

from Cinadco.

Addis Ababa (March 25)-- Foreign

Minister Dr. Tedros met a delegation

led by Ambassador Gil Haskel, Head

of Israeli Agency for International De-

velopment Cooperation, at his office.

Dr. Tedros welcomed the delegation

and underlined the excellent relations

between the two countries. He praised

the training given by Israel to Ethiopi-

ans who are engaged in the agriculture

sector. The FM said besides empower-

ing them with important skills, it also

provided Ethiopian youth with a

change in their mindset, encouraging

them to transform challenging condi-

tions into opportunities. Ambassador

Haskel also emphasized the long stand-

ing cooperation between the two coun-

tries and praised the increasing devel-

opment cooperation between them. He

highlighted the benefits that MASHAV

development cooperation training of-

fered to trainees in Ethiopia, adding

value and productivity for cash crops

they produce. Dr. Tedros and Ambas-
