Met PGA Hope Helps Section Get Ready for Patriot Golf 2015 The emotions and importance of the work of Folds of Honor are as impactful today as they have ever been. This year we have had the incredible opportuni-ty to build a golf program for Veterans through our Met PGA HOPE. This is all part of The Patriot Golf Day effort by our professionals and a small gesture to thank those who have sacrificed their lives and/or limbs fighting for our free-

dom and safekeeping. We will have champions of Patriot Golf Day raising significant dollars but our goal is to get every PGA Professional to do their part and raise dollars and awareness at their facility. Any and every donation will make a difference to the Folds of Honor Foundation. You can “Answer the Call” – take a few minutes to check out what this wonderful charity is all about and how you can help! Click here for ways to promote or help raise funds for Patriot Golf Day at your facility. The Met PGA HOPE program involved 25 veterans from the West Point area and an incredible showing of 16 Met PGA Profes-sionals who took their time to launch this program and provide instruction and friendship to the willing and able vets. Click here to see a video that helps tell the very special story.

Empire City Casino Met PGA Seniors Championship at Metropolis on Aug. 17th & 18th - Followed by Met PGA Senior-Junior Championship at Eisenhower Park on Sept. 21st

Our Met PGA Seniors Championship moves to Metropolis CC on Aug. 17th and 18th with a brand new title sponsor, Empire City Casino along with our friends from Fairway Golf Cars. As we have done previously, this Championship will not only include age groups to provide more players with an opportunity to compete, but this will also be the qualifying for the National PGA Senior Professional Championship that will be played this year on the West Coast at Bayonet & Black Horse at Seaside, CA in Northern California on Oct. 15th – 18th.

One of the most popular events on our schedule is the annual Met PGA Senior-Junior Cham-pionship at Eisenhower Park. Registration is now available for this Sept. 21st event with three formats (better-ball, two man scramble and modified Pinehurst) and an 8 am shotgun start. This year’s Championship is again sponsored by Mohegan Sun and pre-sented by Jerry Shulock and Bushnell.

Field is Set for National Car Rental Met PGA Assistants Championship - Raffle Tickets Have Been Mailed

More than 160 apprentices and class A-8 PGA Members will be at Bethpage Red on Sept. 2nd and 3rd for our 2014 National Car Rental Met PGA Assistants Championship. Raffle Ticket sales will supplement the purse as we shoot for a $60,000.00 payout again this year. The 36-hole test

(field is cut to the low 70 scores and ties after 18 holes) will also be the qualifying for the National PGA Assistant Professional Championship on Oct. 29th – Nov. 1st at PGA Golf Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida with the Met Section vying for 12 spots plus Grant Sturgeon who is exempt. Raffle tickets have been mailed to every entrant and additional books of tickets can be re-quested by contacting Dan Kiley at [email protected].

Assistants Championship Entry Can Be Attained with Conducting a Met PGA Junior Golf Fund-Raiser

For those assistants who are planning to conduct a fund-raiser at their club or course for Junior Golf, please remember that for every $1,000.00 raised, an assistant will get credit for the top tier of the Assistants Championship. We extend our thanks to Seawane and Round Hill for their programs that have gotten us off to a good start in 2015 and to Garden City Golf Club and Saint Andrew’s both also making their usual push. If you have questions or would like some marketing ideas feel free to call our office or anyone who has had success in the past. With the Assistants Championship coming soon and more fund-raisers on tap, we are excited about the prospects of again reaching our $100,000.00 goal in 2015. This year we have also established an initiative called The Birdie Challenge where members can pledge money for every birdie recorded on our Junior Tour. This is a very easy way to get your juniors and your club members involved at a very reasonable commitment level. Check this out by clicking here. Our thanks to everyone who gets behind our Junior Golf programs and oth-ers who are planning on staging an event to help us try to again top our $100,000.00 goal for 2015.
