METHODOLOGYKRASHEN’S THEORY OF SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Input hypothesis

- (acquisition)

- learner improves and progresses (natural order)

-input “key” through hearing and reading

- Understandable ( not 100%)

i + 1 (acquisition level)

I – learner’s present stage

1 – comprehensible input

3 elements

- Language is acquired, not learned receiving comprehensible input beyond the learner current level of mastery (I +1).

- Speech come own its own (silent period).- Input did not contain grammatically

Student have different linguistic level

Natural Communicative input ( speak casually ) + learner will receive appropriate input for the current stage

AFFECTIVE FILTER HYPOTHESIS

- Determines to what degree a person learns in a formal or informal situation- Affect – the effect of personality motivation- Influences acquisition : anxiety, self confidence- “mental block” prevents comprehensible input used for acquisition
