1. Scope of Work
1.1 Specification Reference Architectural Specification Section 07140 rev.3, Clause 2.01 B-D
1.2 Third Party Interfaces
Concrete substrate in interior wet areas; Drywall Substrate Floor Drains Pipe works All other finishing works
2. Work Methodology
2.1 Time 8:30am ~ 6:00pm
2.2 Duration
According master program for this task duration Refer to Item 2.3 Sequence for application duration
2.3 Sequence
2.3.1 The substrate must be solid, dry, clean, smooth (steel-Trowelled finish, no pocket, gaping cracks and ridges) and free from oil, grease and other residues which should be removed by sand-blasting, brushing or shot-blasting if necessary.
2.3.2 Absorptive mineral substrates are to be primed with PCI Gisogrund, diluted 1:1 with water.
2.3.3 Wait the primer to dry (at least 3 hours). 2.3.4 Apply “PCI” LASTOGUM Liquid Applied Waterproofing Membrane
A. Manufacturer recommended applying at least two coats (thickness of wet film each wet film coat : 0.5mm).
B. The first coat should be applied with PCI Lastogum red. Evaporation time after first coat is minimum 3 hours at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures reduce and lower temperatures increase these times. The air flow will affect the evaporation time as well.
C. Sealing the corner and wall/ floor and wall/ wall joints Press PCI Pecitape Objekt sealing tape onto the fresh first coat at corners, wall /floor and wall / wall joints. Cut the tape to fit at corners.
D. Sealing the pipe penetrations
- 3 -
Using the fingers, stretch a PCI Pecitape 10 x 10 / PCI Pecitape 35 x 35 sealing gasket to give a tight fit over the pipe. Place it in position, bedding it onto the fresh first coat.
E. Sealing a floor drain Cut a PCI Pecitape 35 x 35 sealing gasket to suit the drain system to be used. Place it in position, bedding it onto the fresh first coat. Contact PCI for specific guidance if necessary. Insert loose flange of the floor outlet and screw down.
F. Before the application of the second coat, ensure the first coat is dry (at least 6 hours) and has not been damaged.
G. For wall application, apply the second coat of PCI Lastogum grey which is a one-component system. For floor application, apply the second coat of PCI Lastogum grey which is a two-component system (Need to mix the two components by slow speed drill fitted with a suitable paddle for at least 2 minutes before use).
H. Ensure the cured waterproofing membrane is dry and has not been damaged before fixing tiles. If water flooding test is necessary, wait for at least 3 days after the second coat has been completed, before carrying out the test.
I. Tiles can be fixed after the second coat has been completed for at least 24 hours at + 23°C and 50% relative humidity.

5.4 Work Instructions and Field Controls
On completion of the waterproofing, CM to be informed prior to tests. No material / finishing shall be placed on the waterproofing prior to testing.
A. Visual Inspection : Visually inspect waterproofing system installation thoroughly in presence of architect's representative. Bubbles formed in the waterproofing system will be made good in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation. Repair any defects as recommended by manufacturer.
B. Testing of Horizontal Installations:
Flood test to be carried out for checking the water tightness of the waterproofing system. The surfaces shall be cleaned, checked for cracks and the flood test carried out as follows:
After the waterproofing membrane is applied, allow minimum 72 hours for
the membrane to cure before conducting the water flooding test; Temporarily block off all the water outlets by means of impermeable
materials; Flood the waterproofed area with water to a depth of not less than 25mm; Allow the water flooding to stand for 24 hours; Make joint inspection with client's representative of the waterproofing
system to check any abnormal appearance (e.g. debonding, peeling off, etc.);
Make joint inspection with client's representative of the underside of the waterproofed area to check any water leakage;
Record the testing result on inspection forms, taking record photos where necessary;
Remove all the block out at water outlets and allow the water to drain away, or pumped the water out by vacuum pump.
Observation shall be made to the ceiling areas below and adjacent rooms three times daily. Any watermark or leakage shall be recorded on inspection form. A copy of duly signed inspection form to be submitted to the Architect upon completion of the flood test.
- 6 -
Any leakage or defect observed to be made good and have the area to be retested until a satisfactory result is being obtained.
C. Testing of Vertical Installation
Carry out joint inspection with client's representative for water spray test to waterproofing system applied on wall (exceeding 300mm high only) with the following procedures.
After the waterproofing membrane is applied, allow minimum 72 hours
for the membrane to cure before conducting the water spray test; Apply water using a common domestic telephone type shower head fitted to
a 13mm diameter supply pipe delivering water pressure of not less than 0.2N/mm2 (30 psi). Locate the pressure gauge at a distance not exceeding 1500mm from the shower head;
Move shower head to and from or as directed by client's representative along the waterproofing wall surface to be tested (at the level at approx. 100mm below the highest level of the waterproofing membrane ), at a perpendicular distance between 300mm to 600mm for 2 minutes;
Carefully make inspection of the other side of the waterproofed wall surface to check any water seepage;
Record the testing result on inspection form, taking record photos where necessary;
Observation shall be made to the wall of adjacent rooms three times daily. Any watermark or leakage shall be recorded on inspection form. A copy of duly signed inspection form to be submitted to the Architect upon completion of the water spray test. Any leakage or defect observed to be made good and have the area to be retested until a satisfactory result is being obtained.
