IntroductionThis document contains definitions of terms and acronyms found in the documentation for theMetasys system products and serves as a convenient reference.

AActive Directory Federation Services (ADFS)Active Directory Federation Services. ADFS is an add-on, licensed feature to add support forMetasys using Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), a single sign-on solution developedby Microsoft®. ADFS can then, in turn, be used to provide 2-factor authentication for access toMetasys.Active Directory ServiceA network operating technology that enables Information Technology (IT) administrators tomanage enterprise-wide information from a central repository. This information includes datacenter policy compliance and identity management (user logon accounts), which are used for bothMicrosoft® Windows® Operating System (OS) authentication (logon to the Windows OS) as well asnetwork resource authentication (logon to enterprise-wide secured applications, such as email).Active Directory Service Domain/Domain ControllerA collection of domain controllers that serve as a security boundary for network resources.A domain controller provides the Active Directory service to network users and computers;stores directory data; and manages user and domain interactions including the logon process,authentication, and directory searches.Active Directory Service SchemaThe formal definition of all object and attribute data that can be stored in the directory. Forexample, user is an object type with attribute data of name, first name, last name, e-mail, and soon. The schema is made up of object classes and attributes. The base (or default) schema containsa rich set of object classes and attributes to meet the needs of most organizations, and is modeledafter the International Standards Organization (ISO) X.500 standard for directory services.Active Directory Service—Service AccountA logon account assigned to an application to enable the application to perform privileged actionswithin Active Directory service. The Metasys system requires one or more Service Accounts to beassigned to allow the system to perform directory queries and request Active Directory serviceauthentication. Only one Service Account is allowed per domain.Active Directory Service User AccountA logon account assigned to a user account that is created, stored, and maintained only withinActive Directory service. This user account provides access to Active Directory service NetworkResources. The account may also provide access to the Metasys system when added and privilegedusing the Metasys Security Administration system.AnnotationsA note or comment that operators can add to describe or detail a change they made, such as whythey commanded a setpoint or made a change to the schedule.Application and Data Server, (ADS)Application and Data Server, (ADS). A Metasys server that allows you to expand beyond the sitemanagement capabilities, number of connections limitations, and historical data storage limits ofNetwork Automation Engines (NAEs), Network Integration Engines (NIEs), Network Control Engines(NCEs), SNE series network engines, and SNC series network engines. An ADS uses a free version

of Microsoft® SQL Server® software to manage historical data on a computer that does not have aserver-class OS. For a more robust system, an extended ADS is available (ADX).Application and Data Server, Lite version, (ADS-Lite)Application and Data Server, Lite version. A lower-capacity Metasys server that is available forpurchase in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The ADS-Lite products offer the same functionality asthe standard ADS, but can serve as the Site Director for only the smaller-capacity network engines(NCE25/NIE29, NAE35/NIE39, NAE45/NIE49, and SNE110L0).Advanced Graphics Application (AGA)An enhanced graphics programming package that provides dynamic capabilities such as animation,color changes, and flashing for the Metasys system. Dynamic graphics can be defined in MicrosoftVisio® Professional 2003 software using the Advanced Graphics add-on application and GraphicsExample stencil. Graphic files are converted to Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and imported intothe User Graphics Tool. You can access a second graphics viewer, the Adobe® SVG Viewer, fromwithin the existing user interface to view the advanced graphics.

Note: AGA is no longer supported at Metasys Release 11.0.

Advanced Graphics Symbol Library (AGSL)A collection of predefined dynamic graphics that can be defined in Microsoft Visio Professional 2003software using the Advanced Graphics application and converted to Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).SVG files then can be imported into the User Graphics Tool and viewed in the Site ManagementPortal User Interface (UI).ADXExtended Application and Data Server. A Metasys server that allows you to expand beyond the sitemanagement capabilities, number of connections limitations, and historical data storage limitsof NAEs, NIEs, and ADSs. An ADX uses a full version of Microsoft SQL Server software to managehistorical data on a computer with a server-class OS.Alarm ManagerA feature in the Metasys UI that provides a view of all alarms in the Metasys system. From this view,you can take certain actions, such as sorting, acknowledging, and discarding alarms.Application Programming Interface (API)Metasys Monitoring and Commanding Application Programming Interface (API). This API enablesreading, writing, and commanding of one or more Metasys objects or properties to provide asecure way to bi-directionally integrate with third-party applications. At Release 11.0, this API isenhanced to optimize its integration with Johnson Controls Enterprise Management (JEM). Thisensures a robust and cyber-secure integration between Metasys and JEM.ArchiveLocation within a database on nonvolatile media for safe long-term storage of data. Archive is aterm used for both site-specific system configuration data (archive database) and historical data(historical database). The term archive is also used to refer to the task of saving updates to thearchive database.AuthenticationThe process of identifying and verifying a user via user name and password, or by verifying aSecurity Token. Authentication precedes authorization.AuthorizationThe process of granting access to specific functions and data based upon privileges defined in thesecurity system. Authorization follows authentication.

Automatic Private Internet Protocol Addressing (APIPA)A program that automatically assigns a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address to a device whenthere is no Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on the server on the network; APIPA isintended for small, single subnet private networks and is available in the network engine.

BBACnetBuilding Automation Control Network. BACnet® is the ASHRAE standard for a data transmissionprotocol for the building automation industry. Conformance to the BACnet standard is documentedin a PICS that references the supported services and objects listed in the BIBBs.BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks (BIBBs)In addition to the PICS, defines the BACnet services and objects that are supported by a deviceon a BACnet network. A BIBBs document is an ASHRAE requirement to show BACnet protocolcompatibility.BACnet RouterA communication device for the BCPro system that facilitates communication between BACnet IPand BACnet MS/TP networks to monitor and control a wide variety of HVAC equipment, meters, firealarm panels, and lighting.Basic AccessA type of Metasys system access assigned to users. Basic Access users can use a subset of thestandard user interface capabilities based on their user permissions. Basic Access is no longeravailable for OAS/ADS and ADX as well as the NAE55/SNx. Any previous release of Metasys thathad Basic Access user type accounts are now converted to the Standard Access account after anupgrade has been complete.BBMDBACnet/IP Broadcast Management Device. A BBMD is a device that forwards BVLL Original-Broadcast-NPDU messages on BACnet/IP networks that consist of two or more IP subnets.BCMBuilding Control Management. A system marketed in Asia that monitors and controls a wide varietyof HVAC equipment, meters, fire alarm panels, and building lights. The brand name for the BCMsystem is BCPro.Background File Transfer (BFT)Network engine models at Metasys Release 10.1 or later support the Background File Transfer (BFT)feature. When you use SCT 13.2 or later to perform a download to the NAE55-2, NAE55-3, SNE, andSNC models, you use the Background File Transfer feature. Background File Transfer permits youto download a new image and database to a network engine while the engine is still running andcontrolling the building. With previous releases, the engine was offline and inaccessible during thisprocess. The Background File Transfer feature is part of the Manage Archive Wizard > Download ToDevice option in SCT. Equipment controllers at Metasys Release 10.0 or later support BackgroundFile Transfer (BFT).BCProA graphical user interface that enable operators to control buildings, floors, and systems. Inaddition to providing comfort for the building occupants, BCPro reduces the cost of ownership bymanaging the HVAC, lighting, and other building systems in the most energy efficient way possible.This user interface is primarily sold to the Asian market.

Building Network DashboardA detailed representation that provides a cohesive summary of the selected object. Widgetsincluded on a Building Network Dashboard may include a Summary View widget, Trend widget,Equipment Relationships widget, and Detail widget.Bulk commandingUsed to issue a global command to multiple Metasys objects with one request. This action isavailable after performing an Advanced Search.Bulk modifyingUsed to edit the attribute values of multiple Metasys objects with one request. This action isavailable after performing an Advanced Search.

CCCTController Configuration Tool. This tool configures, simulates, loads, and commissions devices on IPand MS/TP controllers. You can configure the following devices with CCT: SNCs, CGMs, CGEs, CVMs,CVEs, XPMs, NCEs, FACs, FECs, VMAs, IOMs, PCAs, PCGs, PCVs, PCXs, and VAVs.C·CURE 9000 Access ControlA security management system for commercial buildings manufactured by Tyco Software House.Beginning at Metasys Release 10.0, the C·CURE 9000 access control system can be interfaced tonetwork engines using a vendor integration driver.CertificateA digital file used as a cybersecurity technique to establish identity and ownership of a public orprivate key.CGMGeneral Purpose Application MS/TP Equipment Controller. CGMs are versatile equipmentcontrollers designed to monitor, control, and integrate a wide variety of HVAC and other buildingequipment. These controllers support BACnet MS/TP and N2 communication protocols, and auto-detect which protocol it's connected to. In MS/TP mode, these equipment controllers are BACnetnetwork compliant devices. Controllers running in N2 mode can be used to maintain or modernizesites with installed legacy Johnson Controls® controllers.CGEGeneral Purpose Application Ethernet Equipment Controller. CGEs are versatile equipmentcontrollers designed to monitor, control, and integrate a wide variety of HVAC and other buildingequipment. These controllers communicate using BACnet/IP. CGEs on the BACnet/IP buildingnetwork support three different topologies: daisy-chained, star, and ring.ChanalyzerThe Chanalyzer is a wireless spectrum analyzer that you can use to check how the wirelessenvironment is set up in a building, to make sure any wireless Metasys products have openfrequencies for their use. You can also use this analyzer as a troubleshooting tool after a wirelessZFR system installation.Change of Value, (COV)Data clients subscribe to an object for COV reporting. The device monitors the value of the objectproperty, monitors the subscription list and the change criteria. When the change criteria are metthe devices sends notifications of the new value to the subscribers.

Client user interfaceA computer software application running on a computer (called the client) that provides connectionto another computer (called the server) that is running a building automation system. In thecontext of the Metasys system, building operators log into the Site Management Portal UI orMetasys UI from their client computer to access the Metasys server (for example, an ADS).Control SystemName used for a custom control logic application that runs in a building equipment controller.CVMVAV Box MS/TP Controller. The CVM equipment controllers are designed for variable air volume(VAV) box applications. These controllers support BACnet MS/TP and N2 communication protocols,and auto-detect which protocol it's connected to. In MS/TP mode, these equipment controllers areBACnet network compliant devices. Controllers running in N2 mode can be used to maintain ormodernize sites with installed legacy Johnson Controls controllers.CVEVAV Box Ethernet Controller. The CVE equipment controllers are designed for variable air volume(VAV) box applications. These controllers communicate using BACnet/IP. CVEs on the BACnet/IPbuilding network support three different topologies: daisy-chained, star, and ring.Cyber Health DashboardA feature of Metasys UI that informs and educates Metasys system administrators of user accountinformation, system information, and most importantly, possible security risks.

DDaisy-chained topologyA type of network topology in which devices are connected to each other in a continuous stringwithout interruption. The wire terminations begin at one device and continue to branch to eachsubsequent device until the last device on the line is reached.DashboardA window in the Metasys UI software that organizes and presents Metasys information in an easy-to-interpret, modular way. Examples of dashboards in the MetasysDashboards ManagerA feature in the Metasys UI that you use to customize dashboards. You can customize the widgetsthat appear, the order the widgets appear, and the size of the widgets. The Dashboards Manageris only available in the UI include the Space dashboard, Building Network dashboard, and theEquipment Dashboard. Metasys UI and is not available in the Metasys UI Offline. The DashboardsManager is only available on computer platforms.DDADestination Delivery Agent. A method of routing and delivering event messages to destinationssuch as pagers, printers, e-mail, and SNMP management systems.Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)The portion of a network located between the Internet and the intranet and protected by one ormore firewalls.DHCP

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. DHCP is a set of communications rules that allows a networkadministrator to automatically assign IP addresses as needed when devices are plugged into anetwork. DHCP enables dynamic IP network configuration and IP addressing.DLLRDemand Limiting/Load Rolling. Software features that help customers save money on energycosts. Demand Limiting (DL) selectively turns off (sheds) equipment, such as fans and lights, oradjusts setpoints to limit energy use during peak times. Load Rolling (LR) reduces overall energyconsumption continuously by shedding unnecessary loads.Domain Name System (DNS)The method by which host domain names are located and translated into IP addresses. A domainname is a meaningful and easy-to-remember handle for an Internet address. DNS is the Internetstandard for naming and locating host devices and mapping host names to IP addresses. Anexample of a DNS handle is www.johnsoncontrols.com.DPDew Point. The dew point is the temperature at which water vapor reaches the saturation point;that is, 100% humidity.DSNData Source Name or Domain-Subnet-Node in LonWorks networks.

EElectronic SignatureA feature of a Metasys for Validated Environments, extended architecture (MVE) system thatsatisfies United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) Title 21, Code of Federal Regulation(CFR) Part 11 Requirements for Electronic Signatures. This feature requires users to reenter theirpassword (re-authentication challenge), state a meaning associated with the signature, and enteran annotation when they make a change to the system or when acknowledging an event. Thesystem does not execute the requested change until users perform all three actions.Energy EssentialsA software application that is an add-on to the Metasys Advanced Reporting System. EnergyEssentials provides seven fundamental energy reports, including the Big Picture Energy and LoadProfile reports.EnthalpyIn HVAC applications, heat content as the internal energy of the system plus the pressure times thevolume of the system.EquipmentA broad term used to describe the equipment that makes your building run. Equipment includesboilers, chillers, air handling units, lights, meters, security systems, and anything else that is usedto maintain your building's environment. Equipment can serve spaces and other equipment. TheMetasys UI product uses the term equipment.Equipment DashboardA tabular and graphical representation that provides a cohesive summary of a selected piece ofequipment. Information displayed includes alarm history, user change history, equipment graphics,historical trend information, and relationships with other equipment and spaces.eXtensible Markup Language (XML)

Text-based language representing data. XML is a simple and easy-to-use subset of the StandardGeneralized Markup Language (SGML), the standard for how to create a document structure.system. The Export Utility runs from an ADS/ADX or from a stand-alone computer on the samenetwork. Export Utility extracts historical trend, alarm, and audit data from the network engine orADS/ADX. This data is then provided in several file formats such as Microsoft Excel and MicrosoftAccess. You can instantly extract the selected data or schedule an extraction at a convenient time orinterval.eXternal Interface File (XIF)A file that describes the Standard Network Variable Types (SNVTs) and configuration parameters ofa LonWorks enabled device.

FFACAdvanced Application Field Equipment Controller. A line of Metasys configurable digital controllersthat support selectable BACnet or N2 field bus networking protocols. FACs feature an integralreal-time clock and support time-based tasks, which lets these equipment controllers monitorand control schedules, calendars, alarms, and trends. FACs can continue time-based control andmonitoring when offline for extended periods of time from a Metasys system network. FACs canalso operate as stand-alone controllers in applications that do not require a network engine orfor network applications where it is preferred to have the scheduling, alarming, and trendingperformed locally in the equipment controllers.Fault DetectionIdentifies building system related faults and lists them in order of severity. Fault Detection helpsoperators quickly fix issues and avoid equipment failure, energy waste, and comfort complaints.Fault TriageImproves the fault list order by adding fault duration and occurrence to the sorting logic. FaultTriage provides less experienced building operators with easy-to-understand system information tobegin identifying and troubleshooting issues, without relying on training or intervention from moreexperienced colleagues. Fault Triage also provides all building operators, regardless of experiencelevel, a structured approach to logging and tracking resolved issues.FC BusField Controller Bus. An RS-485 communications bus used to connect BACnet MS/TP equipmentcontrollers with network engines.FECField Equipment Controller. A line of Metasys configurable digital controllers that supportselectable BACnet or N2 field bus networking protocols. The FEC family includes multiple modelsfeaturing a variety of total number and types of input and output interfaces. FECs feature 32-bit microprocessor architecture, patented continuous tuning adaptive control, and peer-to-peercommunications, and they are available with an optional built-in LCD screen. A full range of FECmodels combined with IOM or XPM models can apply to a wide variety of mechanical and electricalequipment control applications ranging from simple fan coil or heat pump control to advancedcentral plant management. The FEC Series controllers support wireless communications using theZigBee® Field Router (ZFR) Series accessories.Fiber-optic modemsDevices that convert communication signals over copper wire to light signals that can travel overfiber optic cable.FIPS 140-2

The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)-140-2 is a United States governmentcybersecurity standard that approves cryptographic modules/algorithms used for encryption. Thecryptographic modules are produced by private sector vendors who seek to have their productscertified or validated for use in government departments and regulated industries.FirewallA combination of hardware and software components that provides a security system to preventunauthorized access from the Internet to the intranet.Flash MemoryA type of constantly powered nonvolatile memory that can be erased and reprogrammed. In thenetwork engine, flash is used like a hard disk for storing limited information.ForestOne or more domains that share a common schema and global catalog within Active Directoryservice. Forests are normally organized hierarchically as determined by the customer.FQRFully Qualified Reference. A unique, user-defined name that identifies an object in the Metasyssystem.

GGGTGraphics+ Generation Tool. A diagramming tool that helps designers create representations oftheir building equipment and floor plans and bind them to Metasys data objects. The tool includesan extensive library of pre-built symbols and templates, shortcut keys, and right-click functions,giving designers the ability to assemble graphics faster. The tool also provides flexibility to createcustomized graphics using a set of effects known as behaviors. Behaviors allow users to command,navigate, change color, apply flash, set visibility, and display a context menu for bound Metasysobjects. Graphics+ is pronounced Graphics-Plus.Global commandAn option in the Site Management Portal that provides operators the ability to send a singlecommand to multiple objects and view a log of the command results.Globally Unique Identifier (GUID)A GUID is an internal unique identifier for objects within the systemGraphicA pictorial representation of building control equipment on a computer screen. A graphic can bedesigned so that a building operator can monitor and control building equipment directly from thegraphic itself.Graphic Stencil Library (GSL)A collection of predefined graphics that can be configured in Microsoft Visio 2003 software andconverted to SVG files can then be imported into the User Graphics Tool as background images.Graphics Manager and EditorAn embedded graphics package that comes with the Metasys UI software. This package enablessystem designers to create graphics widgets using photo-realistic graphical representations ofequipment and spaces.

HHTMLHypertext Markup Language. HTML is a set of symbols and instructions used to mark up a file sothat a Web browser knows how to display the file’s information; HTML describes the appearance ofinformation for Web browsers.HTTPHypertext Transfer Protocol. HTTP is a set of rules for transferring information over the World WideWeb.

IIFCIntelligent Fire Controller. A cost-effective fire alarm system that provides monitor and controlcapabilities of analog detectors, programmable relay modules, and circuits.IISInternet Information Services. IIS is a Web server included in Microsoft Windows operating systems.ILCIntelligent Lighting Controller. A lighting control system that monitors and controls lighting groupsand provides scheduling and override capabilities.IOMInput/Output Module. A line of Metasys input and output expansion modules with integral RS-485MS/TP communications. When installed on the SA Bus of a NCE, CGM, CGE, CVM, CVE, FAC, FEC, orVMA, an IOM expands the I/O capacity of these controllers. When installed on the FC bus, the IOMserves as an I/O point multiplexor to support monitoring and control from an NAE or NCE.IPInternet Protocol. IP is the transport protocol of the Internet. Verification of reliable transmission isprovided by Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).ITInformation Technology. IT is a general name for electronic data processing and technicalstandards for network communication.Imperial UnitsA system of measurement used mainly in the United States.Integrated Microsoft Windows AuthenticationAn authentication method for directory security on a Web Server. Integrated Microsoft Windowsauthentication uses a cryptographic exchange with the user’s Web browser or Java® applicationto confirm the identity of the user and thereby authenticate the user to access the Web serverresource (such as a Web service or a file).Internet Service Provider (ISP)A company that provides access to the Internet.Item AnnotationText that the user enters for any item or object in the navigation tree, excluding user views andfolders. Item annotations can be thought of as an electronic notepad for any Metasys system itemor object.

JJARJava® Archive. JAR is a file format for storing the components required by Java applets orapplications in a single compressed file to promote speedy download by Web browsers. TheMetasys system uses Java technology for Site Management Portal UI.JPGFile extension of graphics image files created using the Joint Photographic Experts Group standardJava Network Launching Protocol (JNLP)A protocol used by a Web server (for example, an ADS/ADX) that triggers a Web browser to launchthe Java Web Start software.Java Web StartA framework that allows application software for the Java platform to start directly from theInternet using a Web browser Web Start applications do not run inside the browser.Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG)Group of experts that defines and maintains a standard format for compressing and optimizingdigital photographic images.

KKerberosA network authentication protocol designed to provide strong authentication for client/serverapplications by using secret-key cryptography. Kerberos is the primary security protocol forauthentication within an Active Directory service domain.KNXAn abbreviation for Konnex, KNX is a European open standard for commercial and domesticbuilding automation. KNX devices can manage a host of equipment include lighting, blinds andshutters, HVAC, security, energy management.

LLANLocal Area Network. LANs are high-speed communications systems designed to link computersand other data processing devices together within a small geographic area such as a workgroup,department, or a single floor of a multi-story building.LauncherA software application used to start any version of the Site Management Portal UI and SCT UI.Launcher is installed for you with the installation of the Metasys server software (ADS, ADX, ODS),SCT, or software-based network engine (NAE85). Launcher is also used to log in to a networkengine.LCTLogic Connector Tool. A graphical software tool for creating and viewing custom control logic. TheLCT is provided by the Site Management Portal UI and SCT UI.LCS85

LonWorks® Control Server (LCS) 85. Server software that uses an open-architecture flat LonWorkssystem to monitor and supervise HVAC equipment, lighting, security, fire, and access control. TheLCS85 supports a comprehensive set of supervisory features and functions for large facilities andtechnologically advanced buildings and complexes. The LCS85 is a high-capacity server that allowsthe integration of large LonWorks network systems. When configured as the Site Director, theLCS85 can support up to four Metasys network engines.License PortalA website that permits users and customers to register Metasys software.LDAPLightweight Directory Access Protocol. A standard communication protocol for directories locatedon TCP/IP networks. LDAP defines how a directory client can access a directory server, and how theclient can perform directory operations and share directory data.LinuxA free and open-source operating system that is in use on some models and versions of Metasysnetwork engines.Logic BlockA component used to construct the control logic of a system. In CCT, logic block inputs are usedto influence the state or values presented as outputs. Logic blocks also support drag and dropfunctionality in the LCT.LONLocal Operating Network. A networking platform created by Echelon® Corporation for use inbuilding control applications such as HVAC and lighting.LonMark® StandardsA standards organization founded by LonWorks network users to develop and maintain designguidelines for LonWorks networks.LonTalk® ProtocolA protocol developed by Echelon® Systems Corporation and defined in the American NationalStandards Institute (ANSI) standard EIA/CEA-709.1-A-1999.LonWorks NetworkA network that uses the LonTalk protocol.

MMAPMobile Access Portal gateway. A pocket-sized web server that provides a wireless mobile userinterface to Metasys equipment controllers, FX equipment controllers, CH equipment controllers,TEC3000 Series thermostats, and Smart Equipment Rooftop Units (RTUs). MVE is specifically designed to help customers address U.S. Food andDrug Administration (FDA) electronic records and signature requirements (Title 21 Code of FederalRegulation [CFR] Part 11). MVE requires an ADX with other specific prerequisite software.

NN2 BusAn RS-485 communications bus based on the Opto-22® Optomux® protocol. The N2 Bus is usedprimarily by legacy Metasys field controllers to communicate with supervisory controllers. Mediachoices for N2 Bus communication include two-wire, twisted pair telephone wire, a three-wiretwisted cable, and duplex optical fiber. The MS/TP Bus supersedes the N2 Bus.NAENetwork Automation Engine. The NAE is a Web-enabled, Ethernet-based supervisory controllerthat monitors and supervises networks of field-level building automation devices that control HVACequipment, lighting, security, and building access. NIEx9 Driver ManagerA software tool that allows you to upload driver and license files related to the network enginecustom integration solutions. The tool is only used with network engines at Release 9.0 or earlier.Newer network engines use the Linux operating system that have licensed integrations builtinto the image. The primary use of this tool is to manage the backup and restoration of networkengine files before device re-imaging with SCT or the NAE/NIE Update Tool. Once the NIEx9 files arebacked up, you can use the tool to restore these files after the network engine is re-imaged.NT LAN Manager (NTLM)A network authentication protocol developed by Microsoft Corporation. NTLM is the secondaryprotocol for authentication within an Active Directory service domain. If a domain client or domainserver cannot use Kerberos authentication, then NTLM authentication is used.

OOASOpen Application Server. A computer server that combines many of the functions of a NetworkEngine with an ADS into a single piece of software that can be hosted on a virtual machine withrequired specifications. Alternatively, the OAS can be purchased as a turnkey offering, whereJohnson Controls provides hardware with software already installed on it. A PICS/BIBBsdocument is an ASHRAE requirement to show BACnet protocol compatibility.Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)A protocol for communication between two computers using a serial interface. Typically, a personalcomputer connected by phone line to a server uses PPP. For example, your Internet serviceprovider may provide you with a PPP connection so that the provider’s server can respond to yourrequests, pass them on to the Internet, and forward your requested Internet responses back toyou. PPP uses IP and is designed to handle other protocols.PortalA web portal that is a specially designed website that brings information from diverse sourcesinto one central location. The tool helps you ensurethat a reliable wireless mesh network is in place.ZFR Pro CoordinatorA radio component of the ZFR 182x Pro Series wireless system that connects to a WNC1800Gateway to provide a wireless interface between Wireless Enabled Field Controllers (WEFCs) anda supervisory controller. WEFCs can be Metasys equipment controllers equipped with ZFR ProRouters, or wireless TEC3000s. Each wireless mesh network requires one ZFR Pro Coordinator andone WNC1800 Gateway, which initiates the formation of the network.ZFR ProA system that provides a wireless platform for all Metasys CGM, CVM, and FEC family controllersand select TEC3000 Family controllers using BACnet® protocol over the 2.4 GHz wireless ISM band.Components of the ZFR Pro system create a wireless mesh network that allows for data exchangebetween gateways, coordinators, sensors, and equipment controllers. ZFR Pro can be used toreference either the ZFR182x or the ZFR183x Pro Series wireless solutions.
