Liné Machines Gicamill RMachining Solution for Railway Tracks and Turnouts

Four-axis, low rail gantry mill designed for difficult rail machining conditions

Proven machine-tools dedicated for rail equipment manufacturing: rails, switch points, crossings and frogs.

— Unique head design for continuous high-torque 4-axis machining— The continuous fourth axis reduces the use of specially-shaped cutters— High spindle rigidity with ISO/CAT 60 taper — Compact design

— High productivity: two milling heads configuration available

High performance, high reliability and unparalleled support means higher profitability

Robust, sturdy, rail-specific design by a leader in the rail manufacturing industry

The Liné Machines Gicamill R vertical gantry mill is designed and constructed specifically for the railway industry. Its compact design consists of rigid one-piece bed and worktable sections that support the gantry. The simplified foundation is less costly to build yet assures better load distribution. The gantry is designed to allow clearance for the full stroke of all the axes. The sturdy and rigid construction offers the high performance needed for difficult-to-mill materials.

Heavy structures, guideways and drives

Every component is made of high-strength fabricated steel weldments or castings. They are heavily ribbed and stress-relieved to ensure sufficient strength and the rigidity needed to properly withstand allowable loads with minimum wear and the least possible deflection. All power-operated slide movements are achieved by using anti-friction way bearings, including hardened and ground steel slideways (60 Rc) with preloaded, high-capacity recirculating roller bearing pads, and antifriction material.

Powerful drive system

The gantry is driven on each side by two AC servomotors and a double-pinion preloaded gearbox. The saddle(s) and the ram(s) are driven by an AC servomotor and a large-diameter high-precision preloaded ball screw. Two hydraulic cylinders counterbalance the weight of each ram. Each of the axes has a thrust in the range of 45 to 75kN.

Proven design, quality and dependable components assure superior spindle availability

Unique milling head design

Swiveling / Fourth Axis— Specially designed for heavy-duty rail and frog machining— Permanently mounted (built-in) to the bottom-front face

of the main casting which provides the spindle tilt position with extreme rigidity.

— Our unique design allows machining in a continuous 4-axis motion - (A1 and A2-Axes) at ± 105º.

— The available tilting torque is 20,000 Nm.

Spindle power and transmission

Two gears for up to 3,800 Nm and 2,000 rpm capacity— The motor drives the spindle from the drive shaft through

a bevel gear train system located inside the spindle housing.

— This system allows a greater spindle speed range. — The spindle transmission system is controlled by the CNC,

which automatically shifts to the range needed according to the programmed speeds.

— We can obtain over 3,800 Nm of torque at low speed and also achieve 2,000 rpm if needed.
