Meet Julie Gietzel, Beloit’s New Senior Mortgage Loan OfficerWe’re proud to introduce you to Julie Gietzel, our new Senior Mortgage Loan Officer in our Beloit branch. Julie, who started her banking career as a teller before working her way into management, comes to us with nearly 10 years of mortgage lending experience in the Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois market. She has also been actively involved in community organizations, serving as former director for Rockton’s Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as a member of Loves Park Rotary.

Outside of the credit union, Julie loves to spend time with her husband, John, and their two daughters and grandson. Julie also enjoys golfing, motorcycle riding, reading and staying fit.

What random act of kindness would you do with $10? That’s actually what we ask members of our community every December, when we pass out hundreds of envelopes containing $10 and invite recipients to “pay it forward.” It truly is the most wonderful time of year when we see your surprised and excited expressions as you ponder the good deeds you can do!

Some have helped pay a stranger’s gas bill at the pump, others have treated someone in line at a restaurant to lunch, and still others have donated to local charities — from Habitat for Humanity to the Boys and Girls Club to churches. Much to our happiness, we’ve even seen that $10 grow exponentially before being passed on! For example, one recipient took his $10 to work and dropped it into a hat, passing it around to collect nearly $400 before donating it to a local food pantry.

4th Annual “Pass It On Holiday Spirit” — the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

We receive enthusiastic feedback from envelope recipients via postcards (enclosed in the envelopes) and our Facebook page, and it’s incredibly rewarding to hear the countless ways in which this money brings a smile to those in our community. We love the area and the people we serve, and we’ll continue to make it a priority to “give back” — not just in donations of money, but also of time by ringing bells for the Salvation Army and participating in many other local events year-round.

Scholarship applications are availableonline at www.bhccu.org or at all branch locations.

Graduates of high schools in Rock, Dane, Jeff erson, Walworth, Green, Kenosha, Racine, Waukesha counties in Wisconsin and Winnebago and Boone counties in Illinois.

Applicants will be chosen based on their overall academic performance, references and written essay.

Applications must be received by March 31, 2015, for consideration.

The Foundation Board of Directors will review all applications and select the awards. Apply today for this fantastic opportunity for your future!
