VINNYTSYA CITY-THE LIFE ,THE STANDARDS AND THE POSSIBILITIES

Vinnytsya is the administrative, economic, regional centre of Ukraine. The city is located on the banks of the river Pivdennyy Bug, 260 kms to the south of the capital of Ukraine Kiev (3 hours by train), 14 hours by train from Moscow and 6 hours – from Odessa and from Lviv).

The city is connected by railway and by air to the western Europe and other countries of the world. The average winter temperature is -5 –10°C below zero, in summer it is usually +22 – +27°C above zero. Vinnytsya is known as a students’ city of Ukraine, it is proud of such outstanding educational institutions as Vinnytsya National Medical University, Vinnytsya National Technical University, Vinnytsya State Pedagogical University, Vinnytsya Trade and Economics Institute of Kyiv.

The University has 5 hostels, 4 canteens, 7 buffets. During the period of studies at the University each student is provided with a room in a students’ hostel which is equipped with good furniture, appropriate maintenance service, kitchens, shower rooms and other places of common for some extra charge. In the hostels the passing by regime functions and the appropriate protection is ensured.

For US $ 25-40 per month a place in a comfortable hostel room with a TV set, a telephone, a refrigerator is provided.

UNIVERSITY’S PROFILE

VNMU is situated in Vinnytsia City which is the administrative centre of Vinnytsia Region (central Ukraine).

Vinnytsia National Pirogov Memorial Medical University was founded in 1921 as Vinnytsia Medical Institute. During these years the University has trained more than 50 000 doctors, more than 2 500 specialists of highest qualification – candidates of sciences and PhDs. Diploma about graduating from the University was got by 14 000 foreign students from 116 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Nowadays VNMU is a modern medical education establishment which

• performs training according the direction «Medicine», specialties «General Practice», «Pediatrics», «Dentistry», «Medical Psychology», direction «Pharmacy» specialty «Pharmacy» (Master’s Degree), primary postgraduate training (internship), professional advanced training courses (clinical residency and Ph.D. degree) in 53 specialties;

• is accredited according the highest fourth level of state accreditation;

• has 59 departments by the lecturers, 80% of which are candidates of sciences and PhDs. 29 workers of the University are members of different international academies, 25 posses the titles of Honored Workers of Ukraine;

• has more than 12 000 students including nearly 2 000 foreigners;

• diploma acknowledged on the international level;

• has international cooperation and joined researches with many universities and scientific institutions of the world;

• provides Ukrainian, Russian, English medium of instruction;

• has a modern campus in the centre of the city including academic buildings, hostels , laboratories and other facilities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT’S FACULTY

International Student’s Faculty (ISF) of VNMU was founded in 1996. The faculty works to further integrate the university into European and world’s educational medical system. It strives to study and apply the leading experience in the field of higher medical education, to develop research, to promote VNMU achievements in the world. The increase of the number of international students is a sign of FSF’s high professionalism. It also confirms the quality of education delivered to students from all over the world

International students can choose from a number of graduate and post-graduate programs in various Medical areas.

Students have an option to select the language of instructionfor their courses. Currently the courses are offered in English, Ukrainian and Russian languages. About 90 % of international students study in English.

Students who want to study in the Ukrainian or Russian languages can enroll to a 10 months program at the Preparatory Department that teaches Ukrainian or Russian.

STUDENT ’S LIFE

Students are offered accommodation in university dorms.The rooms are for 2 and 3 students. All rooms are furnishedwith necessities for living. The accommodation fee includesthe use of library, gym, laundry and Internet facilities.Free internet is available on the ground floor of the studentdorm. It is also possible to get internet connection directly inthe room through ISP.Students actively participate in sports and cultural programsof the university, as well as events taking place in

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 1. A minimum of 75% score in English at class 10 and 10 +2 level2. A minimum of 75% score in Physics , Chemistry and Biology taken together (PCB criteria ) is necessary 3.the fowllowing documents should be mailed to the admission liaison at the admission department of vnmu at the time of application if the previous criteria have been met .

The nearest international airport to Vinnytsya is Boryspil International Airport in Kiev, UKRAINE.If there are no flights available from vinnitsa to your home country, you can get to vinnytsa via «Boryspil International Airport» (KBP)or «Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany)» (IEV) in Kyiv. From both cities students can reach to Vinnytsya by railway or bus. The railway system (Ukrainian Railways) is the best way to reach university hostel.
