Transcript of Message from the Exalted Ruler 11 O’Clock Toller S t er li ...
I am so excited to be wri ng my first ar cle as Exalted Ruler.
I would like to thank Mike Bartolo a for all of his dedica on the past two years as Exalted Ruler. The Elks lodge has really benefi ed from all of his hard work. He has been a great mentor to me and to all of the lodge officers.
The economy is finally ge ng be er, but, financially things are hard for all of us. Our lodge is included. Bingo is a big part of our income. We just made a few changes to our bingo. We now have bingo on Monday nights and Friday mornings. We need volunteers to help run these. So, if you have a li le me to spare we sure can use your help.
Lastly, I appreciate everyone who took me out of their busy schedules to come to the lodge to vote for the elec on of new officers. And I would like to thank all of the new officers for volunteering their me and devo on to the Warren-Sterling Heights Elks for the next year. I am really looking forward to a great year! Fraternally Yours, Sue Overman Exalted Ruler

Eleven O'clock Toast
You have heard the tolling of eleven strokes. This is to remind you that, with Elks, the hour of eleven has a tender significance. Wherever an Elk may roam, whatever his lot in life may be, when this hour falls upon the dial of night, the great heart of Elkdom swells and throbs. It is the golden hour of recollection, the homecoming of those who wander, the mystic roll call of those who will come no more. Living or dead, an Elk is never forgotten, never forsaken. Morning and noon may pass him by, the light of day sink heedlessly in the West, but ere the shadows midnight shall fall, the chimes of memory will be pealing forth the friendly message,
"To our absent members."
