1 Corinthians 2:1-14

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or

of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and

him crucified.

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's

wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of

God.1co

2:6

Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom

of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom,

which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

2:8

Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they

would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered

into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love

him.1co

2:10

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all

things, yea, the deep things of God.

2:11

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is

in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of

God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth,

but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with

spiritual.1co

2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they

are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are

spiritually discerned.

Paul, Lord help us comprehend what Paul was saying to the church. With

revelation comes the balance of revelation and the thorn in the flesh.

God has to balance you out so you dont get prideful.God knows what we need to

stay saved. Paul persecuted the church. God had a better way for his life. His life

was later forever changed. God chose him and sent him to theGentiles.

His name was Saul and was Hebrew, but God changed his name to Paul which wasa roman name. He went on 3 journeys. Local to Antioch.then to Jerusalem. On

second journey he wanted to go to Asia, but HolyGhost forbade him.

Acts 16 and 17

To Macedonia , the Holy Ghost had a plan, a direction. Sometimes we work

against it. He reasons with Jesus-Jesus is the Messiah. Opposition comes from

Jews. Everywhere he turns persecution comes. Paul cast a devil out of a woman

who did divination for money, and her owners were very mad when they could

now not make money from her.

Next to Athens, Greece. Silas and Timothy he calls. He didnt meet a lot of

success. He found an idol to an unknown god. Paul reasoned with the

philosophers. He convinced few people in Athens.

He defines the unknown God. In him we live, move and have our being. He is the

reason for our existence.

Acts 17 They called Paul a crazy man, a babbler, he got rejection and persecution.

Women were the ones who were mainly receptive to him.

Acts 18:

In Corinth. Aquilla and Priscilla living in Rome. They left and went to

Corinth.Upcoming commerce city, younger people in the city, its not about social

status there.There was much promiscuity, immorality, lots of wealth, and lots of

people coming and going.

for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

Aquilla and Priscilla were tentmakers like Paul. Paul now decided to go to the

Gentiles to preach the gospel.

Many Corinthians believed and were baptized. The issue in Corinth was divisions

in the church. Divisions=carnality. You are babes Paul says, 3 or 4 year olds. I wantto feed you meat , but I cant I have to still give you milk. Apollos- sharp and

intelligent. Showed him a more excellent way. It was not a man who calls you to

be born again. It is God that planted you . He is building you. One plants a seed,

one waters, but God brings forth the fruit. He came to lay foundation=Jesus

Christ. Every mans work will be tried by fire, to see what it is made of. I choose to

know nothing among you ,but Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came in the

demonstration of spirit and of power. My education cannot save you, onlyGod

can. I came in simplicity , in the cross and the Holy Ghost. Help us build Lord on

you.

Acts 18:9

Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but

speak, and hold not thy peace:

The Lord spoke to Paul and he was fearful and depressed because of past hurts

and attacks. God says speak and have peace and I will protect you. God said he

had much people in that city. God has much people here in San Francisco!

There is a hunger for God and a thirst. Dont let the people in this city deceive you

into thinking they dont want God. The same God that spoke to Paul , spoke to

our pastor Morgan about San Francisco.

We are not here by accident, Joel is not here by accident. Paul tried intellectual

stuff in Athens but it did not work. They instead called him a babbler. The wisdom

of man cannot discern the things ofGod. Dont use wisdom of man to reach man.

The spirit only knows the things ofGod. Pride will destroy you. God spoke through

a fish, a rooster and a Jack Ass!

Pastor Morgan didnt build this church. When fire comes to it nothing would be

left. Let God build it in your life. Upon this rock I will build my church and the

gates of Hell will not prevail against the church. Better yourself. Strengthen your

mind, body and spirit.

*Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain. God doesnt need your

wisdom , charisma, or your intellect.

Without the Holy Ghost you cannot see it, think it or hear it.

Paul came in demonstration of the spirit. The Holy Ghost is what will build the

church here in San Francisco. Churches these days have programs, sensationalism,

a show, a social gospel. What about the soul and spirit of man?

This changes a persons life, stopping addictions on the spot, only the Holy Ghost

does that!

The Holy Ghost is the only way to save your marriage, not psychology, counseling,

books to read. Some of that is fine, but the HolyGhost is who does the real work.

Worship is our demonstration to God. Thanksgiving to God. We are worshipping

as priests to God offering thanksgiving and worship. The only way to change this

city is with God and the Holy Ghost. There is a song You dont know what I know,

what the Lord has done for me

The Holy Ghost is a counselor. The demonstration of the spirit and of power is

where the miraculous really takes place and what is impossible for man to do.

Lester S. has a book on healing. Old school writer.

The gifts of the spirit, including the gift of healing. God has healed people of

Diabetes in San Francisco on a day that there was a Diabetes convention!

The more flesh in the church, the less of the spirit.

Praying and fasting is the best remedy for your flesh.

Your carnal mind is enmity against God. In Laodicea flesh rules. That is what this

world says.

We need to be fervent in prayer. The kindgdom suffers violence and the violent

take it by force. I want to see the bound man set free. When you come to church

you should not leave the same. Turn all those TVs and movies off in your life and

get to praying.
