dWhat is the NW Broadband Fund ?

£30 Million Fund from DTI Information Industries Directorate in conjunction with Office of E-Envoy

Regionally the fund is worth £2.68 Million to NW Timing :

Started : 1st January 2002 Finishes : 31st March 2004

Objective : Achieve connectivity to broadband for businesses and

citizens Demonstrate the benefits to businesses and citizens in

order to promote better take up of the technology Project Management : NWDA is fund holder

The fund is all currently revenue Projects can however be :-

All revenue All capital Hybrid of capital and revenue

Compliant projects COULD be :- Demonstrating e-commerce between businesses Demonstrating e-learning – upskilling of individuals Demonstrating e-communication – connecting people with services Brokering the achieving of broadband connectivity Delivering content software to facilitate broadband services Telemedicine – Wiring up communities – e-Inclusion initiatives

NB : Broadband is defined for the purpose of this fund as sustainable connectivity rates of 512kbits/second or greater always on – Technology Neutral

The sub regional studies and action plans must have been successfully completed

Projects driven by the sub regional action plan are created

Project application forms can be obtained from Ian Pickford via the web at the following address: www.nwda.co.uk

Submit projects either by the web or by post to Ian Pickford (01925 400251)

On receipt the projects will then be sent to the appropriate sub regional steering group and the regional panel members for their comments prior to appraisal by the regional panel

The regional panels will be held monthly commencing 27th June 2002 until all funding has been allocated

Submissions will be either rejected, approved or returned for modification prior to approval

Projects CAN be 100% funded but REAL CASH leverage WILL earn the project higher scoring at the regional panel stage!
