Altar Flowers MemorialEach week you may honor a loved one with a gift of $150 to dedicate the floral arrangement that adorns our Sanctuary. The Altar flowers are dedicated this week in loving memory of Carol Galladora, Viola Hopkins, Dwayne Vavak, and Caryl Barboure.

Memorial GiftsAt the death of a loved one, many choose in lieu of flowers to encourage friends and family to make a donation to a special charity or cause. Our Lady of Mercy has nourished the spiritual life of so many parishioners and those throughout the Diocese who come here. A Memorial Gift to our Traditions for Tomorrow Building Campaign is a wonderful way to acknowledge the lives of our beloved dead with a gift of loving generosity to the church that has been such a spiritual home. Ms. Caroline Lemann can discuss ways for you to remember your loved one. Consider adding a planned gift in your last will and testament to remember Our Lady of Mercy.

A LETTER FROM THE PASTOR TOP OFF TFT

Dear Mercy Families,

I want to express gratitude to those who have already responded to our “Top Off TFT Campaign” to reduce the balance on the beautiful new gym. The gym continues to be and will be for a very long time a source of joy, excitement, and Blue Jay pride -- not only for our students but the many visitors as well who come to compete at Mercy. What has happened over the past 5 years is truly remarkable. Our delivery of the new lower school and new gymnasium have been incredible accomplishments in a very short time. Our whole campus has been transformed. This vision has been great because of the greatness in our people – in the consciousness of our mission -- and in our dedication and generous hearts.

Changing the world begins with our families, our Church, and our School. Our people are served at the level of the parish. This is why I always like to say:

What is good for the Mercy Church Family is good for your family!

What is good for Mercy is good for the Diocese and our Catholic Family at large!

What is good for Mercy is good for Mid-City!

What is good for Mercy is good for your property investments!

What is good for Mercy is good for the community and City of Baton Rouge!

I also want parishioners to know the great responsibility we hold. Make no mistake – our parish has dug deep to make this vision a reality.

I want parishioners to know that we have made a very concentrated effort to scrub the Mercy budget eliminating unnecessary expenditures and focusing on the gym balance reduction. As part of that conservative posture this year, we will NOT be lighting the beautiful Mercy Oaks for Christmas. It is a more prudent use of our resources to put that expense towards the new gym. So if you want your light to shine – I want to encourage you to support “Top Off Traditions for Tomorrow”.

With a humble heart, I ask you to join our efforts to reduce our gym balance.

WE CANNOT SHRINK TO GREATNESS!

TOP OFF TFT!

EVERYONE CAN DO SOMETHING

MERCY PRAYS

Commitments Needed for Our Adoration Chapel MinistryCommitted adoration is a beautiful way to express your faith and devotion. Our Adoration Chapel is open to you 24 hours a day. We invite you to come visit the Lord and seek His counsel. Although every hour of the day is opened for commitment, your devotion is especially needed during the following times:

SUNDAY ......1 am, 3 am, 2 pm, 6 pm

MONDAY ......12 am, 3 am

TUESDAY ......3 pm

WEDNESDAY ......1 am, 2 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 4 pm

THURSDAY ......2 am, 8 pm

FRIDAY ......2 am

SATURDAY ......3 am, 4 pm, 6 pm

If you are able to offer yourself in prayer to the Lord, please contact Ms. Michelle Schroeder at (225) 229.1930

We Give to Meet Others’ Needs and Fulfill the Law of Christ It is true in everything we do. Faithful followers of Jesus Christ, we do everything “as unto the Lord.” Though we are granted all manner of talents and resources, we trust in God, we “Hope in the Lord.” As St. Paul wrote, “Honor the Lord. Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself. In fact, the Lord Christ is the one you are really serving, and you know he will reward you” (From Colossians 3:22-24, CEV). “Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). And that law, the law of Christ, is found in love and charitable generosity.

As parishioners from Our Lady of Mercy, you and your generous fellow Catholics here understand what it means to “Hope in the Lord,” extending loving devotion by ministering faithfully, lending a hand, and offering your support to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal every year. You see Christ in the hope others seek—in the promise of the unborn, the potential within hard-working students, in the commitment of our Seminarians, and in needs that define the homeless, shut-ins, the anxious and the searching. Your gifts in support of the BAA affirm the meaning behind Bishop Duca’s motto and the hope you have the power to extend. Please take the opportunity to make your commitment of support by completing your pledge—using the packet mailed to you, forms available online, or pledge cards available in the pew.

If you didn’t receive a packet, please ask for that information. Simply call the Office of Stewardship, (225) 336-8790, or send an email message, [email protected]. As you pray about your personal involvement, you will learn how you and your fellow parishioners enrich other’s lives through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Visit www.baabr.org for additional stories and encouraging details.

God bless Bishop Duca and the faithful of the Diocese of Baton Rouge!

GARDEN OF PEACE

Parishioners will remember that during the period of Master Planning for our future, there was a strong interest in a Columbarium Garden for the interment of cremains. For over a year we have been offering columbarium spaces at pre-construction cost.

Columbarium spaces are priced at $5000 for simple cremain boxes for two people and at $7500 for columbarium spaces for Urns for two people. Please know this pre-construction cost is a great savings. TIME IS DRAWING NEAR FOR THE END OF THIS SPECIAL PRICING BEFORE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS.

DUE TO THE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF INQUIRIES, PRE-CONSTRUCTION PRICING WILL REMAIN THE SAME UNTIL NOVEMBER 30th.

Please know the Columbarium Garden of Peace is totally self-funding and uses NO TOP-OFF Traditions for Tomorrow funds for either construction or maintenance.
