Please note: Bishop Michael Duca’s dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass continues. Seating will be available first come, first served. When the church reaches legal capacity, all will be directed to the PAC to watch the live-stream of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God Mass.
The safest overflow option is to live-stream the Mass to a mobile device in your vehicle or listen live on our campus radio frequency (87.9 FM). Holy Communion will be brought to the PAC and covered driveway at every Mass.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMASThe Feast of the Epiphany, traditionally recognized on January 6, is the day that the Magi or Three Wise Men visited the Christ Child and marks the end of the holiday season, thus bringing a close to the Twelve Days of Christmas.The well-known English Carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” was written during the era when Roman Catholics were not permitted to practice their faith openly in England. The carol was intended as a catechism song for young Catholics exposing an element of hidden meaning or a code word easily recognizable by children.The “true love” one hears in the song is not a smitten love between a boyfriend and girlfriend, but Jesus Christ, because true Love was born on Christmas Day. The partridge in the pear tree also represents Jesus because the bird is willing to sacrifice its life if necessary to protect its young by feigning injury to draw away predators. Here is the meaning of the rest of the song:The two turtle doves are the Old and New TestamentsThe three French hens signify faith, hope, and loveThe four calling birds are the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and JohnThe five golden rings represent the first five books of the Old Testament, which describe man’s fall into sin and the great love of God in promising a SaviorThe six geese a-laying signify the six days of creationSeven swans a-swimming are the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit-----Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and MercyThe eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudesNine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit-----Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience [Forbearance], Goodness [Kindness], Mildness, Fidelity, Modesty, Continency [Chastity]The ten lords a-leaping are the Ten CommandmentsThe eleven pipers piping are the eleven faithful ApostlesThe twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in The Apostles’ Creed

The Mercy Columbarium Garden of Peace is open to all parishioners and non-parishioners, Catholic and non-Catholic.
Columbarium niches are available in two sizes - each cremain niche holds a space for two persons. They are $5000 for a small niche and $7500 for larger urn niches. Please know the Columbarium Garden of Peace is totally self-funding and uses NO TOP-OFF Traditions for Tomorrow funds for either construction or maintenance.

In this Holy Season of the Savior’s birth, I cannot think of a more beautiful and holy place to worship our Lord Jesus Christ than here at Our Lady of Mercy. Our parish provides tremendous opportunities to celebrate the Sacraments of Holy Mass and Confession.
Our strong witness to the power of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Chapel, and our commitment to St. Vincent de Paul and our outreach to the poor and needy, truly are a bright light in a world that can seem very dark.
Our Lady of Mercy functions not only as a vibrant and active church family but also as a shrine for the City of Baton Rouge and our Diocese.
The doors of Mercy are open to everyone. That is why one of the best charities that you can support during the Christmas Season with your end of the year financial giving, is our own parish.
