• Some customers do not have an espresso machine with grinder at home. They need powder coffee.

• It is for that reason that a grinder is often integrated in the concept.

• People can take their favorites and blend their own flavor

A grinder can be added to serve powder consumers

• Customers are able to quickly identify and select the coffee they want to purchase when the handles are branded or color coded

Page 19: Merchandising loose coffee beans in the store

The environmental factors most detrimental to the quality of roasted coffee are air, heat, moisture, and light, with light being the least significant factor. For instance, if the beans are subjected to direct sunlight, the heat from the sunlight would compromise the quality of the beans faster than the light itself.

The plastic used to manufacture Food Dispense and New Leaf gravity bins includes a UV stabilizer content that has been proven to block the majority of UV rays. The New Leaf bins block 85-90% of UV light and the Food Dispense bins block 90-95%. Fixture design can be used to keep light exposure to a minimum. The bin cover is black and the false front blocks the beans in the main storage compartment. As long as the sides and back of the bins are covered, the majority of the beans are protected. Light exposure is minimal at best.

To maintain freshness, our recommendation is that only high volume coffees that can be sold through in 21 days are offered in bulk.

The difference between New Leaf and Food Dispense lies in the

design, the production method (NL is blow molded, TF is injection

molded) and the way of dispensing. NL has coated iron springs inside,

TF uses elastic bands for strapless dispensing.
