En pocas semanas cumplimos un año de haber iniciado operaciones, esta edición marca el fin de un período y el comienzo de lo siguiente.

Este tiempo nos ha servido para abrir mercado y consolidar marca. Ahora viene una etapa en la que nuestra visión es cre-cer y mejorar junto con nuestros clientes, colaboradores y lectores.

Esta edición contiene una nueva sección que decidimos incluir bajo el nombre de Spots and Events, con el fin de mejorar la información sobre puntos turísticos y eventos de entretenimiento y culturales. A ver que les parece.

Our first year of operations is coming in the next couple of weeks. This edition stamps the end of a period and the begin-ning of the next steps.

During this time we’ve worked in opening markets and consolidating the brand. Now, in this new period, our vision tends more to growth and continuous impro-vement, along our clients, collaborators and readers.

This issue contains a new section called Spots and Events. The idea is to provide more and better information on specific touristic spots and entertainment and cultural events. Let’s see what you think of it!

Ubicado en un imponente edificio histórico del siglo XIX, La Señorial Casona guarda uno de los restaurantes más elegantes de la región. La especialidad son los platillos mexicanos gourmet de un chef muy creativo, con un excelente menu de temporada. A prominent historical building from the XIX century holds one of the finest restaurants in the region. The specialty is Mexican gourmet food, a menu designed by a creative experienced chef with excellent seasonal platters. Suited for business meals and networking. Many celebrities have gone through their doors and they´ll keep coming. They also have very impressive themed private rooms, like the Hunters Room (Salón Cazadores) in the picture. Vintich es el castellano de ‘’Vintage’’, término que se aplica a objetos de cierta edad, sin ser antigüedades, que en su momento fueron de calidad y aún se utilizan. Sus espacios con poca luz, sin ser incómodos, crean un ambiente acogedor y perfecto para parejas, gente de negocios o simplemente una buena platica acompañada de amigos y un buen vino. Las bebidas y la comida son excelentes, cocina mexicana con preparación tradicional pero con un toque y presentaciones modernas. La especialidad es el chamorro, pero todo en el menú es excelente.

‘’Vintich’’ is Spanish for Vintage, as you may know, this is an adjective used to describe objects of a certain age that are not antiques, but where of quality and trendy once, and can still be used. Elegantly decorated, the place is comfortably dimmed and the setting is perfect for couples, friends or business meals. It has become one of the locals’ favorites to grab a drink and a good meal. Their specialty is the chamorro in pasilla chilli sauce, we also recommend the shrimp tacos and tuna ceviche.

Para una noche de verano la concurrida terraza de esta joya Romana es el lugar perfecto para estar. Vino y platillos clásicos de su cocina Italiana, donde rigen la calidad y el arte. The balcony of this Roman hideaway has something about it in summertime. A great view to the city lights, the mountain range and famous local skies. Good wine and traditional Italian cuisine, where quality and slow-food is the key. Weekdays they serve an executive buffet à la carte at a great price, enough food to feed the whole Sopranos family. We always recommend their seasonal specials and their pizza, delicious thin crust Italian madness. Great for business gatherings at lunchtime and casual drinks at night.

La comida japonesa es una de las favoritas en general, pero más ahora en época de verano. Akari se caracteriza como el mejor lugar para comer sushi en Chihauhua. Con más de 15 años sirviendo todo tipo de platillos provenientes de este país oriental. Rollos y piezas de sushi, teppan yaki y el platillo estrella es sin duda el Ebi Rock Tempura (camarones roca). Gran variedad de rollos de sushi y platillos calientes para todos los gustos. En la terraza los jueves y viernes por las noches un trovador deleita con su música.

For more than a decade they’ve served all kinds of recipes coming from the land of the rising sun. Thousands of sliced fish, sushi served, chop sticks broken, and sauces poured. The story tells that Monica is the daughter of a prominent diplomat, she travels around the world choosing the best platters that cross her way. If you spot her you should ask for her recommendations, hence the name. This story reflects the restaurant’s concept, worlwide food with a clean and modernist look. Located on the first floor of Fashion Mall, this place has great food and service. We strongly recommend their fresh products’ menu for this summer and the executive menu on weekdays, great value. Also good for early night drinks.

Este lugar asemeja un pequeño restaurante europeo donde: “Nada se compra hecho, nada es enlatado, nada es artificial. Todo lo hacemos aquí…” estas palabras reflejan la filosofía de su chef Daniella y el equipo. Su especialidad es la comida italiana pero el menú de temporada siempre es bueno. Disfrutamos tanto la comida como la pasión con la que seleccionan los ingredientes y preparan cada platillo, deliciosos! También tienen una cava muy buena y su terraza es perfecta para esta temporada de verano. ¿Cosa stai aspettando?.

This place resembles a small restaurant from Tuscan lands. The chef Daniella tells us: “Nothing is pre cooked, nothing is canned, nothing is artificial. We do everything here...” And this is the philosophy that she transmits to the team. The cuisine is traditional Italian with Spaniard influences, but they always add their signature preparation to each platter. We enjoy the food as much as the passion the staff puts into the preparation. They also have a very good wine list and the terrace is perfect for summertime, with a view to the park.

With an English classy decoration that reflects tradition over the years. Great local and foreign minds have been delighted by their food, making it a prestigious place. Este lugar se ha hecho famoso por su gran variedad de salsas y preparaciones de alitas (la especialidad). Además, atención soldados porque corre el rumor que se han incorporado a sus tropas nuevas cervezas y nuevos platillos, así que a repórtarse cuanto a antes a completar esta nueva misión. Un buen lugar para ir con los amigos, ver un partido o echar una buena platica. Tienen más de 100 cervezas: desde las artesanales mexicanas hasta las de Bélgica, Alemania, Japón, Europa del Este y todo el mundo. Si lo tuyo no son las alitas, las hamburguesas son excelentes.

Se ha convertido en punto de reu-nión para grupos de amigos que buscan comer rico o simplemente botanear y tomarse unos tragos. Esta cadena ori-ginaria de Monterrey ha ‘’pegado bien’’ (como decimos aquí), tienen un amplio menú y opciones para todos, incluso para los que no comen mariscos. Seafood is great for hot summer days, and this place has some great authen-tic Sinaloa seafood, a northern Mexican cuisine. Great service, and well-pre-pared food is for sure. Their tacos and tostadas are delicious, traditional dishes with an added touch of authenticity from the house. Gathering spot for coworkers and friends to grab a bite and have some cold ones. We recommend the tostada de ceviche peñasco and the taco norte-ño. They also have a magical medicine for hangovers, called the aguachile, spi-cy! Try it!

Su especialidad son los cortes de carne, servidos jugosos y bien presentados, pero también tienen platillos típicos como el chile pasado o chinchulines (tripitas). Tiene un fol-clor único, el lugar es cómodo, con sus tradicionales asientos de madera. Ideal para familias, amigos, negocios y para amantes de la carne. Un clásico que vale la pena.

One of the most traditional places in the city, located at historical downtown, a few feet from the main square and the Palacio de Gobierno (Government Pala-ce). This place has been up and running for more than 30 years, satisfying hun-gy meat-eating customers daily. Steaks are on the heart of their menu, juicy and well prepared. Traditional dishes from the North are also a great option, like the Chile Pasado or Chinchulines (Tripes). It has a unique folklore, with its traditional wooden seats and decoration. Auténtica comida mexicana con un toque norteño. Y cómo no, pues sus creadores son de esta zona. Los cortes de carne son bien preparados y jugosos. La variedad de tacos es amplísima, con guisos de alrededor de este hermoso país. El Tío Taco también es un punto de reunión para colegas y amigos, además tiene Mariachi los miércoles y el jueves pone a prueba tu voz con el karaoke y de repente también ameniza un grupo de salsa. Buena combinación entre el buen ambiente y buena comida.

Their specialty is authentic mexican cuisine, with a northern touch, and it’s logical, their creators are from this region. Juicy steaks are well served with some traditional sides. They have a wide variety of delicious tacos from around this beautiful country. This place is also a meating place (pun intended) for friends and coworkers. Mariachi night is on Wednesdays, karaoke night on Thursdays and now they have salsa nights. We recommend the guacamole, prepared at the table, for your tacos or steaks.

Se caracteriza por sus tacos, aguachiles y tostadas pero sus platillos fuertes también son un favorito, bien preparados y muy sabrosos. Es un ambiente casual y fresco, entre semana se llena de ejecutivos y algunas familias, por el fin los grupos de amigos concurren a pasar un buen rato desde temprano hasta la madrugada.

This place has a mood of its own, Costeñizate! This means, get into the mood. This is the concept of the place: good food, good service and a great spirit. The specialty is Mexican Seafood with a Sinaloan influence. With traditional dishes from around the country. We recommend tacos and tostadas or the tuna ceviche. The Clamato coktail ‘’el capitán’’ is great, specially for hangovers. Salsas in here are also very good. At lunch, casual businessmen and families show up, later at night, friends and coworkers meet to have a good time. On weekends party starts early in here.

Una de las novedades en la ciudad, con un buen concepto, enfocado a la frescura y calidad. El lugar es acogedor, perfecto para compartir mesa con amigos o pareja, a precios muy justos. Los cortes son de primera, y también sirven langosta fresca, además tienen una variedad de panninis y ensaladas por si buscas algo más ligero. Nos gustó su cocina abierta, donde todo se hace a la parrilla y se observa la cautelosa preparación. La selección en su carta de vinos es buena, blancos y tintos para un perfecto maridaje.

One of the newest places around, this steakhouse uses only fresh high quality products. Preparation is cautious and can be seen through the open kitchen where everything is made on the grill. The place is comfortable, perfect for business meals, friends or couples. Steaks are obviously the house specialty but a great lobster is served as well, fresh from the nearby Cortez sea. They also have a lighter option including paninis and salads. Wine selection is good, ideal to be paired with the food.

Un ambiente costero y la sensación de relajación inspiran este lugar con cocina tradicional de Sinaloa y un muy buen sazón. La variedad de platillos es amplia y los precios muy justos. Los fines de semana es muy concurrido. Las familias son bienvenidas y los amigos también. Entre semana es más de negocios. La sensación son sus aguachiles al dos por uno diario de 10 am a 1 pm. Cualquier hora parece buena para llegar a este lugar, además está ubicado muy cerca de los principales hoteles de la ciudad.

This is the place to try authentic Sinaloa-Style seafood. With the original recipes from the nearby shores of the Cortez’ Sea. Decorated accordingly to inspire calmness, you can expect great service and well-served meals. On weekends it gets crowded but there is always a table available, great input-output. On weekdays the place is more casual, business and coworker gather to have lunch or dinner. Their specialties go from tostadas to main courses. Try anything but ask the waiter for recommendations. It is located near the main hotels in the city.

Uno de los favoritos de la juventud local, ideal para los que buscan conocer gente y pasar una buena noche. A tempranas horas sirven sushi, pero su especialidad son los shots! Aquí se olvidan las penas, los pendientes y las preocupaciones, aquí se viene a la fiesta. Por los fines de semana se llena al máximo y los barmans no descansan hasta cerrar. ¡No olvides preguntar por las promos!

This is certainly one of the local youth favorites, ideal for those looking to meet new people and have a good time. Their specialty is the variety of shots, from classic to crazy. A local band entertains the crowd and argentinian singer Jessica is back from the southern country, with beauty and good voice she leads the music group along with Pepe. Good service and great party! On weekends ladies and gents fill the place up and barmans don’t stop pouring those drinks. Ask for special promotions and have a blast!

This recently opened nightclub is on the cities hot list. The place is big and well decorated. They play really well with the lighting. The DJ plays actual electronic and pop billboards in its high tech sound system . One of the pros: they have a dance floor, lit with LEDs (fantastic). People like to dance away and have fun. Open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. We recommend making reservation, the place gets packed, but there is always space for walk-ins!

Asegúrate ir con hambre que están de buen tamaño. De lunes a sábado de 8:00 AM a 4:00 PM. En Chihuahua los burritos son algo muy tradicional y no cualquiera los hace de esta manera.

This place came highly recommended by “Tiny,” a photographer in our team. His description was so convincing that we had to try them, even though we had already eaten. Delicious hand made flour tortillas, heated instantly and filled with a stew. This location has more than 20 delicious mexican stews and a variety of egg burritos for breakfast. The best one is the pressed chicharron pork burrito, but they are all great. Burritos is something traditional around here and this guys sure know how to make them.

You can top it with chorizo and special house potatos. We highly recommend this place for tourists who have weak stomachs.

Hay una variedad de guisados, como, chile pasado con deshebrada, barbacoa, Costilla, Chicharrón, chile relleno, etc. Son muy famosos así es que apurensé que se acaban.

Montados are a kind of flour tortilla taco, a huge taco, and it´s something typical in Chihuahua. Some ingenious and creative mind from this city invented them, thanks. The idea is simple, grab a delicious handmade flour tortilla, add a special slice of asadero (fresh kind of cheese from the region) to fit the tortilla and top it with a delicious stew. José Luis Cuevas es uno de los íconos del arte mexicano, de los primeros en romper con el movimiento muralista y marcar otra época artística en el país. Las 9 esculturas permanecerán hasta el 4 de Agosto, vale la pena visitar el espacio en el recientemente renovado Centro Histórico.

Temporary art exhibition in the Plaza de Armas at Historical Downtown, just in between the Palacio Municipal (Municipal Palace) and the Main Cathedral. This is the first exhibition of an internationally renowned artists on a public space in the city. The sculptures have converted this urban space into an open gallery for anyone who wants to visit it and life has been injected in the city streets. Jose Luis Cuévas is an icon of Mexican art, one of the first to break the muralist influence, marking a new artistic era in the country. The 9 sculptures will remain till August 4. Definetely worth the visit.

Cuenta con un circuito de 7 km es para corredores y ciclistas; la presa para kayak, canotaje o pesca y tirolesa. Hay asadores, juegos y un mirador. Un lugar muy seguro.

Perfecto para ir a correr, leer o incluso hacer un pic-nic. El escenario te trans-porta fuera de la ciudad y te lleva a otros tiempo, con el antiguo acueducto de frente, una fuente que simula un pe-queño río y los árboles que decoran el ambiente.

El Rejon Recreational Park is one of the most visited by locals. A place to have fun in a safe and healthy environment. Activities such as running or cycling can be done on the 7 km circuit; the water body is great for kayaking, canoeing or fishing. The park has BBQ stands, ga-mes and a balcony.

Un lugar muy agradable, cuenta con un pequeño bosque y estadio multiusos. Además con instalaciones deportivas para atletismo, frontón, escalda y otros. Circuito para correr de 2 kilómetros. El parque es muy concurrido por estudiantes de la universidad y gente de todas edades.

This place was recently rescued by the community of neighbours and Impulsando Capacidad AC, a local non-profit. A forgotten space, today copletely renewed. The park receives everyone and everybody for activities like football, dance, crossfit and more.

An enjoyable place with its own little forest and multisport stadium. There is sports infrastructure for many sports, including athletics, squash and climbing. The 2 km circuit is great for running. The park i sone of the most visited by the university students.

Alucinemas es una red de foros de cine que reúne a interesados en el arte y cultura cinematográfica, y a ciudadanos que buscan un ambiente relajado y lúdico. Su fin es promover la activación de espacios públicos y culturales por medio de la reproducción de película. La selección de películas es parte del catálogo de la Cineteca Nacional y cuentan con todos los derechos de reproducción. La cita es los viernes a las 20:30 en el teatro al aire libre de los jardines del CIDECH, junto al teatro de Cámara (enseguida del Teatro de los Héroes). Con el paso del tiempo me adentré más en aprovechar los lugares con pasión, por medio de la escalada y otros hobbies y deportes. Esto sin duda incrementó el nivel de diversión. “No te subas por ahí, cuidado con el barranco, Tiny. ¡Sergio, dile algo a tu hijo!” Nunca olvidare los gritos de mi grandiosa madre en mis primeros viajes a la Sierra. Al principio los viajes consisitían en nadar en el río, subir cerros, escalar piedras para luego admirar los paisajes. Esto fue en mis primeras visitas esta hermosa sierra, parte del estado de Chihuahua

It all started out as small trips to the Sierra Tarahumara, the idea was to know new places, cultures and admire great natural views. As time went by I started to enjoy this place with more passion and enthusiasm, through rock climbing, hobbies and adventure sports. This raised the fun level by much. “Don’t go up there, watch that cliff, Tiny! Sergio tell your son something!” I’ll never forget the screams from my mother on my first trips to La Sierra as a kid. At first it was simpler, a swim in the river, hiking hills and climbing some Rocks was enough fun. Now we look for a little bit more adventure. This was the begining to many trips to this wonderful land in the state of Chihuahua.

Mis aventuras por la sierra son muchas. Una vez recorrí el Cañón de Tararecua, en Creel, rapeleamos la cascada de Rukiraso, después un brinco de más de 12 metros al agua, para luego llegar a las aguas termales de Recowata, inolvidable descanso y relajación natural. Esta aventura fue de las primeras excursiones de cañonísmo que realicé. También, en el Cañón de Rosalinda dentro de la Barranca de la Sinforosa llegamos a rapelear hasta 160 metros.En otra ocasión Instalamos tirolesas y descensos en la Cascada de Cusárare. Lo hacemos por diversión, pero siempre con el equipo de seguridad necesario, lo mejor para asegurar una experiencia inolvidable.

Over the years I’ve gone on many adventures trough this zone. Once we roamed the Cañón de Tararecua near Creel, rappeled the Rukiraso falls and later a 40 foot jump to water. After this, finally we came to rest in the natural termal waters of Recowata. This was one of my first trips to Tarahumara lands. Another time we rappeled for more than 500 feet over the marvelous Rosalinda Canyon.This place is great for this kind of sports, we once installed Zip lines in the Cusarare Falls. We do it for fun, but always with necessary equipment and safety procedures, don’t try it without a guide.

La sierra es magnífica y tiene enormes bosques con senderos de más de 2 días para poder salir por algún otro pueblo adelante. Estos viajes no sólo me transportan físicamente, también espiritualmente. Me da mucha paz interior. En la Sierra encuentras de todo, paredes pequeñas , medianas y gigantes (literalmente). “Macuchi”, es de las medianas, una ruta en la cascada de Basaseachi, imponente murralla de piedra con más de 300 metros de altura que tuve la oportunidad de subir con otros amigos. La enorme se llama “El Gigante” que tiene más de 900 metros de altura. La Sierra Tarahumara tiene un sin fin de cosas nuevas por hacer. No basta con sólo conocer los maravillosos lugares, es mejor hacer un buen uso de ellos. ¡Disfrútalos al máximo!

The woods expeditions are also great, 2 days walking through the forest looking for the next town ahead. This experiences transport me not only phisically, but spiritually, giving me inner peace. There are al sorts of walls and boulders around here, from 50 feet to the imposing Basaseachi falls’ “Macuchi” wall, almost 1000 feet high, welcoming new challengers to try it every summer. There are also bigger ones like the 3,000 feet high boulder called “El Gigante”, The Giant. The Sierra Tarahumara is great for sightseeing and extreme sports. It is not enough to see this places, but t olive an adventure that you will always remember ¡Enjoy it this summer!

The Lodgeat Creel

Este pequeño hotel estilo cabaña mezcla perfectamente con la hermosa Sierra Tarahumara. Su decoración es acogedora hasta el último detalle, los cuartos con pequeñas chimeneas antiguas, la recepción con artesanías tarahumaras y fotografías que cuentan historias de esta tierra y su gente. La cocina es muy buena y el Rico Café, en el hotel, sirve deliciosas infusiones de altura y el mejor pan dulce y pizzas que vas a probar por acá, preparados al horno de leña auténtico.

This hotel fits in perfectly in the Sierra Tarahumara scenario. Small cabin-like independent romos with a fireplace and great cozy beds. Decoration is kept til the las details in and out of the spacy rooms. The lobby, bar and restaurant all conserve this cabin feeling and decora-tion of different times and spaces of the Sierra Tarahumara story. They also ser-ve great coffee at their local caffé called Rico. Here the bakery works on a wood heated oven, making delicious pizzas and bread daily.
