Do some research around mentoring agreements:
What is the agreement for?What should the agreement include?
Why is an agreement important?If you find a formal agreement then you can bring it
in…. You would still need to write about what they are for and why they are important!

• Complete the task given to you and match up the statements under the correct headings.

ACTIVITY 3Draft your own Mentoring Agreement
• Use an A3 sheet of paper and work in small groups to create a draft Mentoring Agreement (This doesn’t need to be filled in – It should look like a blank form)
• Think about all of the things you should include
• Also think about the wording of the document (Professional)

Peer Assessment/Feedback
• Swap your agreement with another group
• You will peer assess their agreement and provide written developmental feedback (What was good & what could be improved?)
You now need to photocopy this for evidence. Each person in your group needs a copy
IMPORTANCE OF MAKING AN AGREEMENT 2.3
• So both parties know where each other stand• Both parties know what each others role is• Both parties know their boundaries• To set some clear guidelines, rules and regulations• To have a sense of direction• To have a clear goal
WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF THERE WAS NO AGREEMENT?

Do you know any of the different types of Mentoring? If not, do some more research.You need to think of or find at least 3 different types.
For each one – write down a reason why someone might use that type of Mentoring, rather than a different type
Example: One to One Mentoring – Personal, confidential

HOMEWORKDo some research around what types of things a Mentor may need support with, in their role & where they may be able to get the support from – Internal (Inside their organisation) & External (Outside their organisation)
LO 3 – Be able to identify support available to a mentor• AC 3.1 – Identify situations where a mentor may need to seek support (At least 3
situations)• AC 3.2 & 3.3 – Identify the person that the mentor can directly consult for support
and state the type of support the person can provide• AC 3.4 & 3.5 – Identify others (at least 2 others) that can provide support for a
mentor and state the type of support that those others can provide.
• For example; Think about things that might not be a mentor’s speciality or above their role – Where and who could you go to for information/support and what they might be able to offer you to help you in your role?

you have got on. You will clarify and re-cap in next week’s session.
