Mentoring
Coaching - a definition
• Coaching is based on the principle that an
individual is ultimately responsible for their
lives and the results they are getting. If we
acknowledge that we are responsible for
something, it follows that we have power
and influence over it.
Mentoring – a definition
• "A mutual relationship with an intentional
agenda designed to convey specific
content along with life wisdom from one
individual to another. Mentoring does not
happen by accident, nor do its benefits
come quickly. It is relationally based, but it
is more than a good friendship…mentoring
is not two people who just spend time
together sharing".

Introduction to the T-GROW Coaching
Model
Exercise - 20 things you are tolerating
• Take 5 minutes to review and then write your own list of about 20 things.
• Share these with a partner and have a conversation about what you can do about them.
• Identify those that you can deal with easily – make a commitment to do something about them.
• Identify those that probably don’t matter if you accept them.
• Identify those you really need to work on – these may form some of the areas you want to work on with a coach or mentor

My desk is full of stacks of papers.
My wallpaper is peeling in the bathroom.
The kitchen needs a dishwasher.
I don’t schedule enough time to relax/meditate.
Storage shed that is so full you can’t get into it.
Investments that should be re-evaluated but haven’t been.
