For each Hash, up to two Hares/Rabbits will be allowed to run/walk for free. This is meant

to encourage Hashers to volunteer to set Hashes and is recognition of the amount of work

involved.

Tales from the Trail

Hash Re-Run No. 1505 (The Just Dripping in Anticipation Run)

Hares: Virginal Discharge and Rainbow Balls Rabbit: Little Boy

Venue: Kyaik Khauk Pagoda, Thilawa Port Road, Thanlyin Township

Runners: 35

Weather: Bone dry

Time/Distance: 1 h 17 min to amble around 9.6 km of Thanlyin’s finest back-country

inclusive of a generous 7 minute long Beer Stop

Hashing in Thanlyin is invariably good but it is unfortunate that the state of the traffic in

modern times makes it a bit of a logistical nightmare for Hares to do the necessary

reconnaissance and for the pack to find their way there on Hash day. However, Virginal

Discharge wisely chose this location for the site of her virginal Haring and the girl did

good — even if negotiating the traffic that was tailed back along University Avenue from

Kaba Aye Pagoda Road was a bit of a nightmare at the beginning of the journey.

Possibly as a sign of things to come and a reflection on the state of the traffic generally,

it seems that more people elected to go straight to the starting point rather than show up

at the meeting point. This unfortunately meant that there was not much transport

available and taxis had to be quickly arranged.

At the start the pack was informed that it was to complete an A to A Run and that there

would be a single Beer Stop. Meanwhile the pack (and especially the lead Hare) were

getting their collective heads around the fact that Thanlyin now had a brand new roller-

skate park adjacent to Kyaik Khauk Pagoda. However, the Hare, who is something of a

roller derby fan, managed to keep herself away and pointed the pack southward and

advised it to follow paper.

Returnee Free Lili took up the early running and steered the pack across the dirt and over

the road so as to run alongside the northern boundary of Kyaik Khauk Pagoda. By the time

the pack found the first Check 500-m later, at the main Kyauktan Road, this scribe was

already knackered and feeling the after-effects of the previous night’s Full Moon Run. It

was fortuitous therefore that he was not one of the first to the Check and so he was not

caught out like so many of the FRBs who thought that the dirt road straight ahead looked

as if it was a likely prospect for finding paper. However, they were not aware that this led

to military land and so there was little prospect of finding an onward trail. In the





meantime, Free Lili, who is never one to follow the crowd, decided that he should run

south along the busy road and there was some logic to his decision. Sadly his logic was not

in agreement with the thinking of the Hare because she ended up directing the pack north

along the same road and that was the last that anyone saw of Free Lili until the Beer Stop.

On All Floors and Gigolo Joe took up the running alongside the main road, past the Y-

shaped Thilawa Road intersection and then turned off the road to follow a new concrete

path to the east. Now the GM had seen this paper when he was travelling to the start in

Box of Cocklets’s car and had assumed (as no doubt did Free Lili) that this was going to be

In Trail and not the Out Trail. However, upon finding a Check, and disabused of his false

notions, he now set off to find more paper. He wasn’t very successful and ended up

aimlessly navigating a few more concrete paths in the midst of what was once a pond, until

On On was announced. He then followed the pack through bushland further east on a very

pleasant trail, which had a another Check thrown in to keep the pack guessing, before

reaching a fence-line where there was another Check. The GM made the mistake of

Checking to his left when he should have gone right and so ended up very much in BRB

position as he trailed the pack along a pathway that, whether or not the Hares realised it,

was last utilised (in reverse) by Bashful Bladder and Freedom Fries when they set a trail

out here on their 4th July Run in 2015 (Run 1426).

And so, after skirting a very large open space that appears to have been set aside for a

new pagoda complex, which contains what appears to be a never-finished, under

construction, vaguely pagoda-shaped mound of bricks, the pack came to another Check.

Here the options appeared to be to follow a relatively well–formed track to the left or

right or to head straight and follow a dirt track that led into a collection of hovels. The

GM set his sights on the byways and ventured forth into the sandbagged pathways

between the huts but retreated after finding one blob of shreddie because he was

convinced that the pack had called On On elsewhere. He was wrong and he turned around

again when he saw Hare-in-Chief, Virginal Discharge heading in his direction with the pack

trailing behind.

He maintained his FRB status, ably aided and abetted by On All Floors, as the trail turned

north and dog-legged to the next Check. You win some and you lose some and, in this case

the GM lost when he cast his lot by turning right and heading towards the nearby paddy

fields. But this was not to be a day of running along berms and the real trail continued

north for a little while before winging its way back to the west (after the FRBs missed the

turn and ran off paper). Up to this point the GM had been slightly disorientated because

the once sandy lanes that became crystal clear streams in the wet season had now all been

concreted but, as he turned west and headed up the hill into a rural monastic compound, he

regained his orientation and was a little discomfited to find the pack running through the

compound without removing their shoes and socks.

At the far end of the compound there was a Check at the archway and again the GM made

a poor call by continuing up the hill when of course the Hares wanted the pack to follow

paper through more of the compound before taking a parallel road alongside a cemetery to

the next Check.





The GM was expecting to see the Beer Truck when he regained the main road but he was

to be badly disappointed because the Hares had other ideas. Their thought processes

were such that they decided that the pack needed to stretch its legs for a little longer

before providing any sustenance.

And so the pack ventured north along the main road, past the petrol station, and then

turned left and ran for a further 350-m before the welcome sight of Raza Gaha Hasha

and his crew of Beer Wallahs hove into view. The pack was well spread out by this stage

and so an extended Beer Stop was required to allow everyone, including BRB Sai Htet Yan

Oo, to regroup.





The restart saw Virginal Discharge guide the pack, which had welcomed Free Lili back into

the fold at the Beer Stop, along a small lane heading south that soon opened out into open

ground and meandered via walking-trails to a Check at a sort of T-junction. Here Iron

Maiden and the GM turned right because it seemed like the correct thing to do at the

time and indeed had they got much further than they did before hearing the On Back call

they would have found the paper for the latter part of the trail. As it was the GM had the

pleasure of a 200-m run to get back On Trail again while Iron Maiden decided that it was

against his principles to retreat and so kept going regardless.

After meandering around some more well-formed dirt trails in more bushland, the GM

finally caught up with a rudderless pack at the next Check. There seemed to be confusion

about which way was “On” with co-Hare, Rainbow Balls, following half the pack in one

direction while Virginal Discharge led the rump of the pack in a completely different

direction. Rainbow Balls seemed somewhat confused and so the GM decided to head back

to where the paper had been laid, picked up the real trail, bumped into the Walkers coming

from the opposite direction and finally ended up as BRB chasing Rainbow Balls’ merry band

of men (and Harriettes) who, by then, had got themselves back On Trail.

A nice run through more open bushland ensued and thence it continued over the railway

line to a roadway. Here the Hash gods were smiling on the GM for once because the FRBs

had run a long way along the road but were off paper and the GM was grateful for being

able to read the body language of the Hare when she stopped and headed back across the

tracks. Paper was lost for a while before the Hare directed the pack due south despite

the protestations of Joe Allen and his side-kick Oli Slow that they had already Checked

out this area to no avail. However, the Hare was telling the truth and paper was found

indicating that that the trail did indeed continue south, at least it did until a walled

compound impeded further progress.

Following the wall to the east brought the pack to a road and here here the GM followed

paper southward despite the fact that the Walkers, who had arrived at about the same

time, had crossed the road and followed a footpath on the far side. Of course the GM only

found a very large ‘’ for his troubles and had the pleasure of a 200-m run to get back On

Trail again.

From this point it was almost all over bar the shouting. A last leap over a bit of water to

walk along a levee that separates some very large ponds saw the pack return to the wooded

area that lies alongside the starting point and from there all that was left was to run

across a patch of dirt and so find the Beer Truck once more.

It had been a most excellent run and all was well with the world — at least it was when the

beer started to flow.

The Circle

At this time of year, sunset is just after 5:30 PM and thus, compounded by the length of

time it took to drive to the run site, there was not much daylight left in which to hold a

Circle by the time the run finished and the Walkers finally ambled in. It was not quite the





earliest sunset of the year (that occurred near the end of November — sunset being at

5:30 PM from 14 Nov to 1 Dec) but, at 5:35 PM, it was close. Throw in the fact that Titty

Titty Bling Bling was hosting her grand birthday soiree later in the evening and it was a

recipe for a short Circle.

Hares, Virginal Discharge, Rainbow Balls and Little Boy were given the obligatory

Down Down for a trail that was well laid and actually managed to find bits of new

territory.

There were a couple of Virgins to welcome: Ma Ei was a local lass who said that Iron

Maiden made her cum while Sam McHugh was a pilot friend of ex YH3 Hasher Tiny

Slit who, we were told, had insisted that he cum along.

There was a good sprinkling of Returnees, some of whom had not been seen for a long

time: Oli last ran on 19 Mar; Clifford the big red cock on 29 Oct; Bina, Free Lili, and

Box of Cocklets last showed up on 12 Nov whilst Oral Titillation was last seen on 13

Nov.

Clifford the big red cock was given a double Down Down in honour of her 50th Run

with the YH3

It was, sadly, the last Hash of Too Drunk to Cum who completed 35 Hashes in the

year that she was in town, having commenced her YH3 career on 19 December. She

will be missed as she cavorts in the snowy wastelands of Nova Scotia.

Natalie Sanchez was obviously desperate for a drink because she charged herself

for littering On Trail and self-confessed to throwing away an empty water bottle.

There were rumours that a segment of the Hash, led by the Hares, wanted to go 10-pin

bowling on the way home. However, people seemed more inclined to go home for a shower

and step into their glad rags to go to Titty Titty Bling Bling’s 2016-themed party on the

roof of the Alfa Hotel.

There was no bowling but fabulous night-time views of the Shwedagon viewed through the

bottom of a cocktail glass was not a bad piece of compensation!
