It was a rainy evening, and inside the car

beside the dark bushes at the park, Tenjo

Minami is begging Nakajima Oguri to not

leave her and pick her instead of his fianc,

Yamada Noriko.

Please Oguri, dont leave me, have you

already forgotten how we were so in love

with each other? she said.

No Minami, I will marry Noriko and that ismy decision, besides, I already have fallen

out of love with you. Oguri replied.

Minami get out of the car, sobbing. Oguri

closed the car door and left, leaving Minami

soaking wet in the rain. Minami watch hiscar, as it leaves her sight. She was badly

hurt by his words. She fell into her knees

and at the top of her lungs, she screamed

his name. And as she did so, all of their

happy memories, back when they were

together, flashed back into her mind. The

big cherry blossom tree, where they always

spend their time together, the treasure boxwhere they put all the things that they

treasured all throughout their relationship, it

all came back to her. She finally went back

to her condo soaking wet. She turned back

after she closed the door and suddenly her

eyes widen, there is silence and suddenly

blood was all over the floor, and a knife was

thrust into Minamis heart, she was already

dead.

Meanwhile, at the mall, Detective Kindaichi,and his best friend,Mori Youko is shopping

for their upcoming class outing that week.

Kindaichi is teasing his best friend that no

swimsuit would fit her, because of her small

breasts,Gain some hormones before something

would fit you here, haha Mocked Kindaichi.

And while they were fighting, Kindaichis

phone suddenly rang. They both became

silent and looked at each other, and then

Kindaichi decided to answer his phone.

Hello? Inspector Hanazono? Whats thedeal now? Cause you know were doing

some shopping here and.. Kindaichi

paused.

Youko looked at her puzzled, he also looked

at her and began speaking again.

Oh, I see. Ill make sure that I would help

out as much as I could. Okay, bye. he said

and then he put the phone on his pocket

again.

Whats that? Another case again? asked

Youko.

He looked at her with a dismay, and nod.

He said that a girl died inside her condo in

the hotel beside the train station. You know

Im really sorry, I promised you that we will

shop together, but this is just an

emergency. explained Kindaichi.

Oh, I understand, I can shop by myself,

you can go now and solve that case right

away, so that you can shop for yourself

too. Youko said smiling.

All right then, Ill just contact you ifanything goes wrong, bye! said Kindaichi

and then he immediately left. Youko watch

Kindaichi leave with the sad look in her face

and then, turned to shop for her swimsuit

again.

Kindaichi ran across the sidewalks for

several minutes, and then he suddenly

stopped and turned at the hotel he was

standing in front at, while gasping for his

breath. He entered the building with a

serious look on his face, he asked the

receptionist for the room where Tenjo

Minami is living at.

Ms. Tenjo? Uhm, 604, but, why do you

ask? Ms. Tenjo died last night and theres

an investigation going on there, and I

believe they dont let anyone go inside, are

you one her relatives? asked the

receptionist.

No, Im a detective, and I am here to

investigate on her case, anyway, thanks.

Kindaichi said and immediately left.What? a detective? Wait! shouted the

receptionist, but it was too late, Kindaichi is

already at the elevator. Kindaichi is finally

standing in front of Minamis room. When he

opened the door, he saw InspectorHanazono, the other police and Minamis

dead body.

Oh, there you are Kindaichi, This girl is

Tenjo Minami she was found dead by the

boy who delivers the food every morning inthis floor. He said that he knocked the door

for about 10 times, but no one answered,

he was puzzled, because the receptionist

said that Ms. Tenjo did not leave her condo

the whole night, so he just said that he will

leave the food at the door. But the spoon

fell off and when he was about to pick it up,

he saw some blood at the entrance of the

door, and so he ran to call the hotel

manager to inform her on what he saw, and

then the hotel manager called the police

station. said Inpector Hanazono. Kindaichi

moved closer to the corpse, and looked at it

from top to bottom.How long has she been dead? asked

Kindaichi. According to the forensics, more

or less 16 hours. answered Inpector

Hanazono.

And one thing more, because we are all

wondering how the culprit escaped from this

place. said Inpector Hanazono.

Huh? Why? asked Kindaichi.

Because thisroom is on the 6th floor andits hard to escape from here using the a

rope or something, and besides the windows

are all locked up and only Ms. Tenjo and the

hotel has the key to open it, and one more

thing, the culprit cannot possibly escapedfrom the front door, because the key is

inside Ms. Tenjos bag. And also, we didnt

find any fingerprint on the windows and on

the door besides Ms. Tenjos. So we suspect

that it must be a suicide, because we also

found this thread on the handle of the knife,

Tenjos bag. said Inspector Hanazono.

Kindaichi grabbed the plastic containing thesaid thread and examined it, and then he

turned back to examine the corpse again. I

dont believe that this is a suicide, because

if you wanted to kill yourself, you could

have gone with a quicker death, likeshooting a gun on your head or heart, or

the old fashion way of hanging yourself up

in the ceiling, but this way, youll just feel

the pain before you died said Kindaichi.

Maybe, shes a masochist, so she canendure pains like that Inspector Hanazono

replied.

Oh, dont be such an airhead Inspector,

this is obviously a murder case, and Ill

prove it to you. Kindachi said.Fine, young man lets see whose right. said

Inpector Hanazono.

escape from here, I think your wrong,

because condo rooms in this hotel has itsown laundry bin, so that the tenant would

just throw their laundry in it, now you could

say that it would be impossible because this

room is on the 6th floor, but all the laundry

bins in this hotel are connected, meaning

the laundry bin below this room is

connected to this rooms laundry bin, so it

could be possible that the culprit escaped

from there. explained Kindaichi.

So youre saying that the culprit is the one

downstairs? asked Inpector.

Oh, please, Inspector, that is just an

example, okay? annoyingly replied by

Kindaichi.

Kindaichi continue to examine the corpseand something caught his attention. Beside

Minamis thighs are Japanese characters

written in blood saying,

immediately asks Inspector about it.

Inspector, look at this, did you saw thisbefore me? asked Kindaichi.

What? No, we thought it was just mere

blood, but when you look at it closely, it was

a word Inspector replied. Kindaichi read it

again and said

Oguri? I think its a name, could cherry

blossom be the surname of this person?

wondered Kindaichi.

Yes, maybe, I will check her cellphone for

names. said Inspector and then he opened

Minamis bag and search for her cellphone.

Its here, I found it, and it seems that she

was sending message to someone, someone

named, Nakajima Oguri, OGURI? This is

him! shouted Inspector to his surprise.

What? Let me look at It. said Kindaichi

and snatches the cellphone.

that guy, hes the one concluded Inspector.

Dont jump into conclusions Inspector, Hemight not be the one, but Im sure of

something. Hes the key to solving this

mystery said Kindaichi seriously.

Kindaichi went to where Nakajima Oguri isliving at, he breath deeply and knocked on

the door.

Mr. Nakajima? Are you home? said

Kindaichi as he knocks the door. The door

suddenly opened, and a fine looking womancame out and asked,

Yes? What can I do for you? asked the

woman.

Uhm, Im looking for Mr. Nakajima Oguri,

but I guess I was looking at the wronghouse, sorry for the interruption Maam

Kindaichi apologized.

No, No, your right this is Nakajima Oguris

Im Detective Kindaichi Yuu, from the

Tokyo police department Kindaichi replied.

look like a high school student to me,

anyway, what would a detective want from

my fianc? wondered Noriko.

Actually Im here to ask your fianc

something about Tenjo Minamis murder

case. answered Kindaichi.

that woman? Noriko asked in an irritated

tone.No Maam, he is just a suspect, and hes

very vital in solving this case, I know he has

the answer replied Kindaichi calmly.

Im so sorry, but my fianc didnt kill

anybody, and Im sure of it, so if you excuseme, you can now leave this house. said

Noriko in a more irritated voice.

But the door suddenly opened and a formal,

and good looking man came in and said,Noriko, you left the door open the man

said.

The mans attention was drawn into

Kindaichi and so he ask Kindaichi, Oh, so

we have a visitor here? Hello, young man,what can we do for you? said the man in a

kind voice.

Uhm, Sir, Im Detective Kindaichi Yuu,

from the Tokyo police department, and I am

here to ask you something about Tenjo

Minamis murder case. Kindaichi replied

quickly.

Oh, Honey, dont mind him, hes about toleave and- Noriko was interrupted by

Oguri.

What? Minami is already dead? You got to

be kidding me, we just talked, and now..

Kindaichi tell the story of how Minamis

starting to smell bad. But all the traces of

the murder were just there. Kindaichipointed out the Japanese characters, which

is written in blood to Oguri and Noriko.

This is Ms. Tenjos dying message, Oguri

and cherry blossom he said as he move

closer to it. Oguri and Noriko also movedcloser to it.

It is when you first look at it, it looks like

just a mere blood stain, but when you move

closer, it resembles characters. said Noriko.

Cherry blossom? Oguri said in surprise.

Why? Mr. Nakajima? Is there something

about the cherry blossom? asked Kindaichi

in curiosity.

Yes, there is a big cherry blossom tree

where we used to meet and spend our time

together, and I remember, we buried a box

there, containing all the things we treasured

in our relationship, maybe, maybe she put

something there, that I need to see. said

Oguri in an excited tone.

blossom tree Mr. Nakajima? said Kindaichi

getting excited too.Yes, absolutely said Oguri firmly.

So they all went to that big cherry blossom

tree, and dug the box. When, they finally

have the box dug, they opened it and saw a

letter inside the plastic, addressing to Oguri.Oguri was the first one to read the letter,

and as he is reading it in silence, he eyes

became widen and teary, he looked at

Noriko, and he suddenly fell unto his knees.

Kindaichi was curious about Oguris actions,and so he read the letter out loud.

Dear Oguri,

I know why you are doing this to me. You

want me to forget you, thatswhy you said

that you dont love me anymore. But I see it

in your eyes, I know, you are still in love

with me. I also know that your fathers

business is going bankrupt, and to repay all

of the goodness, he have done to you, you

business will save your fathers business

from its downfall. But hes given you achoice right? Because he loves you and he

wants you to be happy, so even if the

payment is his downfall, he will have you

decide on what you really want right? So

why? Why did you choose Noriko, over me?

You said that Im the only woman youll

ever love for the rest of your life.

We already planned our wedding, our dream

house, and the number of kids you want. So

why, did you choose Noriko to be the

woman youll be with forever? It hurts me a

lot, when I think about it. I wanted to die,

but if I die I cant see you anymore, and I

dont want that, I want to be the woman

youll love and be with forever, If I woulddie, I want to die beside you. Cant you see?

Im offering you my life, all of me. Thats

why I decided to erase Noriko from our

sight.

Kindaichi was so shock about what he had

and then to Oguri, then he finally said,

Inspector I know who the culprit is, now,can you ask the owner of the room below

Ms. Tenjos on what did he do on the time

of the crime? Thanks a lot, Inspector. After

he said that, he put the phone in his pocket

again. And turned to Oguri and Minami,

We will just wait Inspectors call and you,

you know who you are, will be confessing

something to us. said Kindaichi seriously.

Kindaichi finally received Inspectors call,

and they all went back to the crime scene.When they got back there, the Inspector

and the other police are also there too. And

suddenly, Norikos phone rang,

Hello? Mom? Yes, Uhuh, All right I

understand. Then she turned to the othersand said,

My mom called, and she said that my

father is looking for me now, because he

the laundry bin, this murderer is what wecall, lucky, because at the time of the crime,

the tenant below this room is taking a bath,

and he always leaves the window open,

because the air-conditioning unit in his room

is broken, so the culprit escaped from thewindow of the room below, and if we check

it now, the fingerprints of the culprit is still

there, the culprit do not originally intend to

kill Ms. Tenjo. And that night Ms. Tenjo

invited the culprit to her condo. The culprit

did not expect Ms. Tenjos actions, and so

the culprit just acted on stimuli, and that is,

in another term is what we call self defense.

So in short, the culprit, is you, Ms. YamadaNoriko, Ms. Tenjo invited you to her condo,

because she wants to kill you, but she didnt

expect that you were much stronger that

her, and the situation becomes, vice versa,

she ended up being killed. Right Ms.

Yamada? asked Kindaichi firmly.

What are you saying, me? I cant possibly

kill anybody, never! denied Noriko.

Please dont deny it Ms. Yamada,

remember when Inspector called? He saidthat the last person Ms. Tenjo called is you,

and she even mailed you to meet her at her

condo, right? Theres no escaping it Ms.

Yamada, just accept It. explained

Kindaichi.

No, its not my fault, I just defended

myself, and she said I was a bitch and that

Oguri is marrying me, only because of

money, she said that I should be erased in

the world, because she and Oguri is the one

who truly love each other, she said, she said

so many bad things that hurt me, I ran to

her, and tried to slap her, but I saw the she

had I knife in her bag, she wants to kill me,I just protected myself, Its not my fault.

Its not, its not she said as she fell down to

her knees.

But why did you thrust her in the heart

Ms. Yamada? Are you also afraid that shewill steal Mr. Nakajima from you? asked

Kindaichi kindly.

Noriko cried at these words, she might be

really afraid that Oguri will be stolen from

her, so on the last minute she had theintent to kill Minami too, just like what

the same knife that was thrust in Minamis

heart. Oguri went back to the cherry

blossom tree and dug the box again, he

smiled as he look at the things inside that

box, he closed his eyes and he realized that

he is really still in love with Minami, and

that all the memory that they shared
