The building at 31287 Brunes Street, built by a team of volunteers 33 years ago, continues to be the location where Christian music and teaching and talk programming originates daily from 91.5 & 102.7, The Word and 104.3, The Pulse. Home Sweet Home has withstood ice storms, blizzards, tornadoes and lightning strikes and we are truly thankful for the way God has protected our ministry building down through years. I know that it’s only a building; but it’s a special kind of building. Why, because every inch of space is used for the sole purpose of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in word and song. It’s been suggested by many over the years that we buy property and build new studios and offices. Every time we investigated the possibility it seemed as though God was telling us to stay right where we are. Home Sweet Home has undergone some interior remodeling to make room for more control and equipment rooms and offices. Also over the last few years, the roof was re-shingled, new siding added, a handicap entrance constructed and just last year new windows installed. We’ve tried, with God’s help, to use his money wisely in taking care of this building so that your financial support could go right into the ministry of building God’s kingdom in central Minnesota. This past winter was a long hard one! There were times when I wondered if our old furnace was going to make it. I prayed several times during those very cold days that the computers and broadcast equipment would not freeze-up and there would be heat in the morning. The heating company made several maintenance stops over the winter and with God’s help we made it! Before next winter a new natural gas heating system will need to be purchased and installed. The new furnace will be much more efficient and money will be saved on heating fuel. The cost of the project will be $7,000. We would like to get the new system installed this spring so it will be ready to go by this fall when the temperature starts to drop again. Our 15 year-old KCFB transmitter in St. Cloud is also in need of repair. As you KCFB listeners know, we have experienced some technical difficulties, even down- time this past year. About $5,000 is needed to make the repairs. Your special donation to help either with the furnace project or transmitter repairs would be very helpful and appreciated. As you probably know, we don’t have $12,000 in the budget to take care of these needs. Please pray and let me know what you can do to help. I look forward to hearing from you soon! That’s about all for now. Please stop by and see us sometime. We’ll be happy to give you a tour of Home Sweet Home. Mike Heuberger MCBI General Manager We are delighted to be able to report that your gifts have allowed Grace Radio to begin broadcasting from Northern Thailand! HCJB Global, now called Reach Beyond, has assisted this local church to build a community based station with your financial support. Here is more good news from Wayne Pederson of Reach Beyond: “In late February, our team had the blessing to join together in Northeast Thailand to celebrate a BIG milestone—our 100th radio plant by Reach Beyond in Asia since the Asia Pacific region was established in 2003. We praise the Lord for His guidance and faithfulness to bring us this far over the last 10 years. Please pray with us that He will allow us to repeat this milestone — in five years this time! We received this note and are giving thanks: “Peace FM” went on the air Wednesday evening (26 Feb 2014) with a simple automated playlist of music. A man who had previously turned away from Christianity heard the worship music on the new radio station. He asked several people where the church was located. Three days later, he attended the Sunday morning service, repented, and (re)turned his life to the Lord! Broadcasting for three days and one soul has already returned!” Wayne Pederson President of Reach Beyond Home Sweet Home From Mike Heuberger 102 . 7 Pequot Lakes 91 . 5 St. Cloud 104.3 Breezy Point P.O. Phil KvammeHow did you get into meteorology?

Pat PaganoI was in my mid teens in high school. I was watching a TV weatherman and I remember him saying, “The US weather bureau says flurries tomorrow, but take my word for it, you will need a shovel!” And I’m thinking to myself, I wonder if he will be right? The following day it snowed very heavily, I watched him on TV and he said, “I told you it was going to be a significant snow!” I was so intrigued that I went to the library and started pulling out books on weather forecasting and meteorology and I decided that this is definitely what I wanted to do.

Phil KvammeIt’s a unique mixture in meteorology, it is a science, you deal with the public, and your experience gives you a feeling that may be different than what the computer maps and stats would lead you to believe.

Pat PaganoYou’re absolutely right, we called it “the gut” back when I started, and of course Phil I’ve been forecasting for 40 years now. When I started we did not have computers, everything was done by hand and you plotted, and plotted and plotted… With the advent of computers things started getting easier, but also more complicated. Now there are so many different computer models to look at, it’s overkill.

Phil KvammeI know just from talking to you on a daily basis, that family is very important to you.

Pat PaganoMom always told us, remember you always have to stay together even when I’m not around. Every Thursday night was family night. Everyone went to her house and she cooked and we brought dessert. The whole family was there. Now when she’s not around we still carry on that custom.

Phil KvammeI’ve heard that you are a ballroom dancer.

Pat PaganoMany years ago I had a serious problem with one of my legs so it was hard to walk. I prayed to God and said if you make this leg better I will put it to good use, and He did. I took myself to Fred Astaire Dance Studios as a student, and I said I wanted to sign up for lessons. They spotlighted me after 3 lessons and the owner came up to me and asked if I would like to be an instructor, and I did. I taught ballroom dancing for 10 years. Now if I could have one wish, I would love to be a judge on Dancing With the Stars.

Phil KvammeIt’s great getting to know you better Pat, you’ve proved time and time again that you really know the weather here in Minnesota.

Phil Kvamme Sergeant Curt, thank you for coming, we appreciate every time you’re here. You’ve been sharing highway information safety messages on MCBI for a long time!

Curt MowersI don’t remember when I first started, it could have been as long as 13 years ago, that’s how long I’ve been doing this, but we’ve been doing it a lot more steadily for the last several years.

Phil Kvamme How did you start in law enforcement?

Curt MowersI was actually going to go to Bible college, I was enrolled and accepted at Crown College, but God told me He wanted me to be a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper. I ended up getting on as a city police officer in October of 1981 with the city of Braham, Minnesota, then when the patrol started hiring again I got on in 1984 and I’ve been a trooper ever since.

Phil KvammeSo you’ve been a follower of Christ for your entire law enforcement career?

Curt MowersI have been. I first made a public commitment to Christ on February 23rd, 1973.

Phil KvammeWell that’s fantastic. Are there ways that being a Christian has affected your years of service in Minnesota with the State Patrol?

Curt MowersI think so, for one thing, I’ve been divinely protected including the very first shift I was scheduled to work. My partner was shot while he was working for me since I didn’t have my equipment yet. I’ve had a lot of near death experiences and I can only attribute that to God. I definitely believe He’s been at work.

Phil KvammeWe thank the Lord for His protection during your years of service. Working as the information officer while also being an active patrol officer, you probably have some unique situations with people hearing you on the radio or seeing your picture and then you are the officer stopping them on the road!

Curt MowersThat happens a lot, in fact I’ve had people stopped where I’ve actually been on the radio, a taped program, and they’re looking at me, and then the radio – and I say, “Yea that’s me, it’s taped, and here I am, sorry I have to give you a ticket”. A lot of people do recognize me because they’re listeners. We have a lot of great listeners and they do hear the program, and I think it’s made a difference for traffic safety. Phil KvammeWhat folks maybe don’t realize is that you are coming to the end of your career with the State Patrol. We appreciate your service, what’s next for Sergeant Curt?

Curt MowersI don’t have anything etched in granite, one thing I do know, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do at home. I’ve got 4 kids and 3 grandkids so we’ll spend time there. I’m going to do some volunteering and expand on allowing God to work in my life, that’s my general plan. God’s going to have to provide the details and I’m trusting that He will do that. I’m really not concerned about it, I’m leaving it up to Him and we’ll see what happens.

Phil KvammeIt’s been a great relationship between you and the State Patrol and MCBI radio. We’re going to miss you Curt, but we still plan on seeing you around. Curt MowersI appreciate that – I’m planning on retiring July first, and I’m going to miss you guys. I look forward to coming in and stealing some of Randy’s cream, sugar and coffee. But you guys have been really great helping us to get the word out over the years, and I’m so thankful for that, and what I’m really thankful for is the fellowship I’ve had with you guys. It’s been one of my favorite places to come throughout my career.

Phil KvammeThank you, Curt.
