The program challenges schools to compete and win financial and other incentives while making their school greener and more sustainable! Mission Through hands-on, project based learning, the DPS Go Green Challenge will educate the next generation to practice sustainability in their homes and communities and become leaders in the green economy. Students and teachers are encouraged to use school facilities as a basis for innovative programming and serve as a tool for hands-on lessons that improve student achievement, positively impact the community, and reduce operating costs. Overview The DPS Go Green Challenge (GGC) was launched in Fall 2012 as a voluntary opportunity for schools to reduce their energy costs and share in the savings. Last year 47 schools completed over 800 greening projects – saving DPS $300,000 in utility costs and earning $30,000 in awards and prizes for schools. Over 4 years the program has saved over $1,500,000 and awarded $105,000 back to schools. Recognizing that going green is more than just energy conservation, this year the DPS Go Green Challenge continues to include projects on water conservation, recycling, and gardening.

RE: ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS - DPS Go Green Challenge

Apply at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GGCsignup

The DPSCD Office of Energy and Sustainability is now accepting applications for the 2016/17

DPSCD Go Green Challenge. The program challenges schools to compete and win financial

and other incentives while making their school greener and more sustainable!

Mission

Through hands-on, project based learning, the DPS Go Green Challenge will educate the next generation

to practice sustainability in their homes and communities and become leaders in the green economy.

Students and teachers are encouraged to use school facilities as a basis for innovative programming and

serve as a tool for hands-on lessons that improve student achievement, positively impact the community,

and reduce operating costs.

Overview

The DPS Go Green Challenge (GGC) was launched in Fall 2012 as a voluntary opportunity for schools to

reduce their energy costs and share in the savings. Last year 47 schools completed over 800 greening

projects – saving DPS $300,000 in utility costs and earning $30,000 in awards and prizes for schools.

Over 4 years the program has saved over $1,500,000 and awarded $105,000 back to schools.

Recognizing that going green is more than just energy conservation, this year the DPS Go Green

Challenge continues to include projects on water conservation, recycling, and gardening.
