SUBJECT: Implementing ASAP Tutorial for Employees The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is well on its way to tier one status. We gained a grand following since the start-up of our Football program and will continue to flourish. However, after noticing an influx of new students registration fail, we conducted interviews with incoming students – freshman and transfers – we discovered many have a hard time navigating ASAP and paying tuition on time. With that being said, we need to find a more efficient way to allow students to register for classes. Functionality of ASAP There are too many hidden links on ASAP and students find it difficult to locate information needed. We have to take into account some students are coming to UTSA as freshman, or transfers, so they are unaware of how credits work, ways to pay tuition, or how to register for classes online. This obstacle has caused many students to add classes they do not need and disregard paying tuition, which in turn leads to having the course needed, dropped. Program to Solve Confusion We need to assess areas of ASAP to improve navigation. All students must feel confident in utilizing the site. I would like to reiterate that almost half of our incoming freshman could not locate and properly pay tuition with thousands of registration errors. We are working on an introductory program that all students new to ASAP must access and read through before being able to utilize the site. It will be an interactive tutorial and students can refer to this guide after its initial use by simply clicking the help button, located on the top right side of the navigation bar. All registrar employees are required to participate in a workshop, further implementing the understanding for this tutorial. Our goal is to make students new to UTSA’s transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at 210-287-5520 or [email protected].
