BACKGROUND In March 2013 staff provided the Board of Health with the 2012 year-end results for ten of the eighteen indicators from the PHAA (ACS2013-OPH-IQS-0002). At that time the other eight indicators had either been delayed, data was not available, or the indicator had been deferred. CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS Additional 2012 Results and 2013 Targets Update Since March 2013, OPH has received one additional result related to meningococcus immunization rate (Indicator #9c). The 2012 result for OPH meningococcus immunization rates is 87.9 percent (slightly exceeding our target of 87.1 percent). The Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (The Ministry) has communicated to OPH that Hepatitis B and HPV immunization results for the 2011/12 school year will not be reported. The Ministry also indicated that they have suspended 2013 targets for these indicators (Document 1). The Ministry has also confirmed OPH’s 2013 performance targets that were shared and approved by the Board of Health in March 2013 (ACS2013-OPH-IQS-0002). Baby-Friendly Initiative Designation Achieving Baby-Friendly Initiative designation is a Performance Indicator set out in the PHAA. OPH has been verbally informed that the target for 2013 (Designated) has been met. This has occurred through ongoing work with the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada. Smoke-Free Ontario Program and Workplace-based Cessation Demonstration Project Recently the Ministry announced that the Smoke-Free Ontario (SFO) program and the Workplace-based Cessation Demonstration Project, will be included as part of the PHAA. As such, OPH will be required to report funding and expenditures for the SFO Program as part of reporting to the Ministry.
