Supports Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale Our commitment to music performance is clearly seen in our active support of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale, through both financial and volunteer contributions. Each year we sponsor an RSOC concert, the concertmaster chair, the principal harp chair and a trombone chair. The Rochester Music Guild also arranges for ushers at all RSOC concerts and supplies volunteers for the HoNk*SquEaK*ScRaTcH*BooM! program in January. Maestro Jere Lantz Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale Presents Lunch & Learn September 30, 2013 Rise of the Masters Featuring Jere Lantz Charter House Maestro Jere Lantz, known for his enjoyable and entertaining lectures, tells the story behind the music and will give an exciting preview of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale’s season opening concert, Rise of the Masters. Jere will discuss works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. October 18, 2013 Art and Music: Making the Connection Ashley Hall & Nathan Tighe: trumpets Rochester Art Center Trumpeters Ashley Hall and Nathan Tighe will teach the audience about important events in history and their influence on the development of art and music over the centuries. They will explore art from the Renaissance through Post- modernism alongside live music from Palestrina to Berio. Additional Lunch & Learn programs will be scheduled throughout the year. _____________ Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Program is from 12:00-12:45 p.m. $10 catered lunch – bag lunches welcome Lunch & Learn is a free program. It aims to develop the performing skills of young musicians in the Rochester area, to improve musical standards and to identify music talents by providing the opportunity to perform in a competitive situation. This event combines all the elements of music appreciation, education, and performance, with a strong commitment to the musical leaders of the future.
