About FPSNSW

The Fluid Power Society (NSW) Inc. was re-established on

the 3rd June 2016 after a growing concern of the lack of

professional recognition and regulation in the Fluid Power

industry.

FPSNSW is motivated to raise the awareness of the

dangers of working on fluid power systems to the governing

bodies to try to establish a national approach to ensure that

any person designing, applying or working on a fluid power

system is appropriately qualified and trained to do so in

accordance with industry standards safely and effectively.

FPSNSW is an affiliate member of AFPS and is responsible

for promoting the aims and objectives of the Fluid Power

Industry in New South Wales, which are to:

✓ Advance the growth of fluid power technology.

✓ Foster activities aiding the development and

application of fluid power technology.

✓ Share information, ideas and techniques.

✓ Advance the knowledge and skills of people working

in the industry.

FPSNSW membership encompasses all fields of

engineering and provides a forum for the free exchange of

ideas and creative thinking.

FPSNSW membership includes people from a broad

spectrum of industry such as companies that manufacture

fluid power components, engineering consultants, system

designers and manufacturers, component service and

installation companies and fluid power trainers.

Technicians, educators and specialist technologists as well

as manufacturing, service, marketing and management

personnel are also included in the Society’s membership

scope.

Current and future aims and objectives

Professional Certification

FPSNSW has established a certification program to

recognise people who have reached particular levels of fluid

power knowledge and expertise. The program formally

recognises the ability and professionalism of fluid power

specialists in the fields of systems engineering, sales and

marketing, component service and installation,

management and high- p r e s s u r e hose assembly.

Education & training programs

The FPSNSW functions in two key educational areas:

✓ Upgrading and updating the fluid power knowledge of

FPSNSW members

✓ Fluid power curricula and courses in cooperation with

formal education providers and agencies

Customised training programs have been and continue to be

developed by FPSNSW to provide specialised training in the

following areas;

✓ System design and component selection

✓ Component servicing and refurbishment

✓ Fault diagnosis techniques for systems

and components

✓ Tube and hose installation techniques

✓ Professional sales and marketing strategies for fluid

power sales people

✓ High pressure hose assembly training and certification

✓ Effective supervision techniques for foreman and

leading hands

FPSNSW holds regular members’ meetings which involve

pertinent technical topics. It also offers members an

opportunity to attend seminars where visiting overseas and

interstate fluid power specialists present papers covering

technical and regulatory compliance topics.
