MANGANESE= Manganese is used extensively to produce a variety of important alloys and to desulfurize and deoxidize steel.

Manganese is relatively abundant, constituting about 0.085% of the Earth's crust. Among the heavy metals, only iron is more abundant. Most manganese occurs in deposits of the oxides, hydrous oxides or carbonates.
