MembersIn order to remain a part of the Spanish National Honor

Society members must reach the qualifications listed below.

• Engage in TWO of the following categories:Academic Commitment, Community

Commitment, and Global Commitment.

• Only allowed TWO absences from meetings called

and

• Must continue to show academic integrity and character as noted by

no cheating, no plagiarism, no misconduct, no insubordination, and

no intentional dishonesty

What are my options in Academic, Communal, and Global Commitments?

• Academic-member is CURRENTLY enrolled in a Spanish class-member is published in Albricias! -member maintains an overall GPA of a B- or better

• Communal-member tutors a fellow student in Spanish-member serves as a bilingual guide for students or their parents-member recruits 8th graders into the Spanish program -member tutors 8th grader in Spanish

• Global-member is involved in global Latino issue through Amnesty International or other support/Human Rights awareness groups-member participates in a Pen-Pal program with a Spanish-speaking colleague

Awards and Recognition

• If a member EXCEEDS the minimal for the required qualifications, awards can be given.

Awards

• Sponsors of Active Chapters may award the Certificado de Excelencia to initiated members who has achieved the highest grade point average in Spanish for that school year.

• Sponsors of Active Chapters may award the Certificado Por Servicios to recognize initiated members who have rendered meritorious service in their Chapter.

• Sponsors of Active Chapters may award the Premio de Honor to the best graduating senior of their chapter.– This certificate may be obtained from

the National Director of the Society at no cost and will be sent upon receipt of the student’s name. The names of both the student and the Chapter Sponsor will be printed in Albricias! If sent by the deadline.
