Rodgers is credited with over 900 songs and 43 Broadway Musicals. This places Rodgers as one of the most significant composers of the 20th Century. His influence has been immense across generations of popular music with his compositions being recorded and performed by artists such as Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Alicia Keys and many more. The Barry Charles Band(Vocal Jazz and Blues / Pop Jazz) Band 7.30pm – 10pmBlues and jazz guitarist, singer/songwriter, Barry mixes it up - Tom Waits to Rolling Stones, Cocker to Cohen or Buddy Guy to BB King in a seamless set of soulful classics and originals. Barry performs sincere ballads of selected covers and his own noteworthy songs of life and love. The band comprises the indomitable Peter ‘awesome’ Wells - guitar, Parris Macleod - piano, Greg Hose - bass and Duncan Macqueen - drums.

Cleon Barraclough(Standards / Originals / Latin / Vocal Jazz / Afro - Cuban)

Band 6pm – 9pmCleon Barraclough debuts his solo show at BJC featuring stunning arrangements and compositions for his 10-pc band. Together they explore a rich selection of styles from New Orleans and Afro-Cuban to modern and swinging jazz. Cleon is widely respected for his creative piano improvisations and his vast skills as MD, arranger, composer, keyboardist and singer. This concert brings all of these talents together.

Band 7.30pm – 10pmCaxton Street Jazz Band has been entertaining audiences for over 40 years with their hot jazz style, crisp arrangements and tight ensemble playing. 

Their broad repertoire of jazz classics from the 1920s to the 1950s includes mainstream, swing, trad/New Orleans revival and blues. 

The favourite and familiar names of Bernice Haydock, Tom Nicolson, John Braben, Paul Williams, Andrew Shaw and Dave McCallum complete the quality line-up.

Dezzie D & the Stingrayz(Vocal Rhythm and Blues / Swing) Band 7.30pm – 10pmFormed in 2013, this Rhythm & Blues outfit has been performing nonstop to audiences throughout South East Queensland. Their authentic, unique blend of 40s and 50s Swing Rhythm & Blues draw their influences from artists such as Ruth Brown, Ann Cole, Etta James, performing renditions of music which encapsulates the swingin’ good times that has truly shaped the music industry.

Sweet Thunder Big Band(Big Band Jazz) Band 6pm – 9pmThis 13-piece jazz orchestra received an overwhelming response at the 2019 Brisbane Big Band Festival, capped by a standing ovation from Festival patrons, John Hoffman, John Morrison and Jackie Cooper. Hoffman summed the band up as being ‘the real thing’. With a unique repertoire, exceptionally tight ensemble playing and no less than nine accomplished soloists this hugely experienced and energetic band is not to be missed.

Arabesk (Sydney) (Tango, Reggae Rhythms, Jazz Flavoured Funky Beats)

Band 7.30pm – 10pmArabesk have brought their intoxicating global grooves to Australia audiences since 2003, winning best instrumental track at The Australian Songwriters Awards and an invitation to perform at Takatsuki Jazz Festival in Osaka, Japan. Arabesk are : Bulgarian born violin virtuoso Veren Grigorov, Gypsy Jazz guitar aficionado Rob Shannon, young up and coming jazz bassist Thomas Wade and Michigan born drummer extraordinaire Calvin Welch.

David Bentley Trio(Vocal Jazz and Blues) Band 7.30pm – 10pm

 There can there be a better place to spend Friday night than at Brisbane Jazz Club. Factor in the club’s beautiful grand piano, crystal clear sound and fantastic food and you have the makings of a swinging night out. Pianist/vocalist David Bentley delivers original songs, timeless jazz standards, New Orleans grooves and urban blues. Andrew Shaw - bass and Nathan Goldman - drums complete the trio.
