At Raymond James, we have always believed managing your hard-earned money doesn’t mean you have to take unnecessary risk.
We analyze hundreds of products before choosing just the right ones to lay a foundation for a strong nancial plan. is isn’t to say we can eliminate risk altogether. However, with a thoughtful, carefully considered strategy and a commitment to the long view, we can help minimize it. We can tailor a plan that employs the right amount of caution designed to help you achieve your nancial goals.

Dear Members & Guests I'm sorry I didn't ask more of you for input regarding our decision to cease the mailing of the Spray. There has been a great deal of concern expressed for the value of having the Spray delivered to your home instead of reading it electronically or picking up a copy at the Club. So...this is what we've decided to do. Simply let us know if you would like to continue to receive a hard copy via US mail. Please send an e-mail to [email protected] or call and let Deanna know to put you on the mailing list. For everyone else, the Spray will always be available on the Club website, will be e-mailed to you monthly, and we will have copies available in the Clubhouse. On the search front, I'm pleased to report that Jonathon Pritchard has accepted the position of Dining Room Manager. Jonathon has held management positions at Pass A Grille Yacht Club in St. Pete Beach, and Tarpon Springs Yacht Club. Most recently, he was Maitre d' at Aubergine Dining Club in Columbus, Ohio. Please join me in welcoming Jonathon to our family! The search for our next Executive Chef has certainly taken longer than anticipated. That being said, at this writing we have a very strong candidate we are talking with and may have an announcement soon! With Milos' pending move, we are collecting resumes and will be paring down the lot very soon. Tennis and Fitness Chair, Lorraine Totty and her committee, will be assisting to be sure we hire the best possible candidate. I would like to thank Milos for his years of service to our Club. The opportunity he has at Island County Club is testament to his professional aspirations and we wish he and his family all the best. Congratulations Milos!

BOOM!!!!! As in Red, White and Boom on July 1st. Our annual Independence Day celebration is one of the best days of the year to be a member of the Club. As a very well attended event, please make plans to ride with other members or plan other means of transporta-tion, as parking is extremely tight. For even more holiday fun, on the actual 4th of July, we will have a special buffet at the Harbor Grill. This is a great opportunity to enjoy dinner and fun at the pool before heading out to view the city fireworks that evening.
The Board of Governors, Strategic Planning Committee and man-agement have completed initial reviews of our draft Master Facilities Plan. The design firm has proposed some new and thoughtful areas
of improvement. This month we plan to have member review sessions to further refine the ideas. Stay tuned for dates and times of these sessions.
For mid-week dining options, the Club has specials every Wednesday night such as lobster, snow crab or prime rib. Check the club calendar online to confirm the special of the night.
Thank you for being supportive of our efforts to make your Club experiences great!

Wines of the MonthKendall Jackson Estate
Santa Maria Valley ChardonnaySanta Maria Valley Chardonnay is rich and
creamy with golden mango, pineapple, yellow peach and honeysuckle flower flavors. It's
oak barrel aging bringing notes of buttered biscuits and vanilla bean to the palate and
finish. The chilly climate and very long growing season allows the grapes to retain a high natural acidity, while the narrow
diurnal temperatures of the season results in extraordinarily flavorful grapes.
$13.00 6oz, $16.00 9oz, $45.00 btl
Alexander Valley Cabernet SauvignonThe Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
shows mountain intensity in its rich blackberry, black currant and cassis flavors. It drinks beautifully now, and will age for a decade or longer. It’s bone dry, with thick,
but refined long tannins, brightened by a burst of fruit and acidity. Blended with a little Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and
Petit Verdot for complexity.$14.00 6oz, $17.00 9oz, $50.00 btl

Courtside News
As most of you know by now I will be leaving the Club in July. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a great eleven years. During that time I had a chance to meet many great people, both members and staff, and created friendships that will last a lifetime. I've enjoyed every lesson and clinic I taught as well as seeing our teams win many matches during twenty-two Space Coast Tennis League seasons. Everyone has been great to me and my family and I can never forget that. It was a hard decision to leave but I feel it was best for my family and me at this time. Eau Gallie Yacht Club will always have special place in my heart and I promise I will come to visit in the future. If you are ever in the Marco Island area please stop by and say hello. Thank you again for a great eleven years and best of luck in the future.
Sincerely,

We aim to instill in them a love for the sport of sailing that will serve as a foundation for the future of our Club. The program is designed for chil-dren from 8 to 14 years of age. The goal of the course is to develop an appreciation for sailing through rigorous FUN! The program is designed to teach basic sailing techniques and water safety for the beginners and lead into racing techniques and water safety for the more advanced. The Club has Open Bics and 420's for our aspiring sailors. Bring a friend and join us for this program as we explore the art of sailing! Lunch will be served and each child must provide their own Regulation Life Jacket. All classes will held Tues-day thru Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rain or shine.

We welcomed the Mitchell family to membership and tennis fun at the Club in June. Several years ago, Stuart became Executive Vice President
and Chief Operations Officer at Health First. The family moved here following time at various country clubs and states including: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Memphis, Tennessee, Columbus, Mississippi and Georgia. They are well traveled and enjoy adventures in fine wine and dining. They extend their warm southern charm and hospitality to everyone they meet, especially to exchange students. Lisa is an avid tennis player and Stuart spends leisure time fishing, exercising and golfing. Lisa and Stuart are also active in local community charitable organizations.

The Valderrama FamilyThe Valderrama family, Melvin, Kathryn and children, Christian, Breanna, Dylan, and Cici completely embraced the EGYC lifestyle of so-cializing, boating and dining. The family pur-chased a powerboat and are often aboard enjoying our waterways. Kathy and Melvin's main focus in life is the fam-ily. They volunteer at the children’s schools and celebrate the children’s successes! Melvin is retired U.S. Army, and is strong and loyal in his family leadership. Kathy telecommutes, enabling her to combine and balance professional pursuits with being a Mom and Home Chief Operations Officer! Melvin grew up in Puerto Rico while Kathy grew up in Long Island, NY. Melvin enjoys fishing and cooking. His favorite sport is basketball & soccer, and he passionately cheers on Orlando Soccer! Melvin spent time overseas, speaks three languages and would love to tour the world with Kathy. They are excited to try tennis and sailing. Kathy loves extra free time for family, painting, and shopping, and is a talented seamstress. She also likes to savor new wines at the EGYC Wine Club and looks forward to travel and vacationing in Paris. Son, Christian is a young entrepreneur excited about making a change that impacts the entire technology world. He has had success already as a software developer and is a college graduate of Stetson University with a degree in Computer Science. After college, he started his own com-pany called VB Technologies. Breanna celebrated her Melbourne High School graduation at the Club and there are beautiful photos of her look-ing absolutely stunning at her Debutante Ball recently. She plans to attend Stetson University to major in Biochemistry. She loves cheerleading and made the SU Cheer Team her very first year. Dylan attends Indialantic Elementary School and his favorite pastime is playing video games. He loves spending time on the family boat and has several Club friends aboard to enjoy hanging out, learning to handle boat helm responsibilities and linesman talents. His favorite sport is basketball He also has a secret talent of making fidget spin-ners out of LEGOs. The Valderrama family shares their family hospitality and is mentoring a young blond and beautiful girl named Cici. She’s in pre-kindergarten and pals around for all things family. Her favorite time is recess out on the playground. Cici is also talented in dancing and cheerlead-ing. The Valderrama family is one of our younger member families and truly an important part of our growing membership.
EGYC Summer Youth Program 2017
We had two great poolside Open House Receptions, one in May and one in June and look to host more in the near future. Continuing gratitude goes out to members who en-courage family, neighbors and friends to visit as guests and when they come
aboard to truly experience membership! All of you are fantastic Club ambassadors and we appreciate the genuine enthusiasm always shown our touring guests and friends!

John and harrIet renfrow Sponsors: Joey & Pam SowellJohn & Andrea Hogan
John checked us out to enjoy retirement, socializing and boating capabili-ties and met his soon-to-be sponsors while getting acquainted with the Club. John explained he and Harriet had moved from Texas years earlier
from further north in Washington D.C. where he had worked successfully as an attorney as well as 13 years of U.S. Army active duty. Harriet retired as an elementary teacher of special education. They are now more inclined to spend some time on a sailboat and acquired a Hunter 356 recently! John enjoys building wooden model boats and is an avid golfer. Together they enjoy traveling, photography, collecting antique cameras, reading and visits with their two daughters, families and grandchildren. With their past membership in clubs and charitable organizations, we know they are a great match here and are gladly on board!

Well we are full into our summer swing here at EGYC. As the tem-peratures continue to increase our participa-tion in all things water related seem to follow suit. Our EGYC Sum-mer Youth Program con-tinues to grow week by week with many third generations of family names in amongst the mix. Many of our current talented and certified counselors were in fact at one point, not so long ago, campers themselves. July allows all those with club affiliations to enjoy our month long Strictly Sailing program which promises to build upon the basics while challenging even the most expe-rienced of sailors. With a focus on water safety we encour-age all with young children to have a proper PFDs (personal flotation devices) fitted for your child and we encourage them to be worn in ad around the Club’s waterfront fa-cilities throughout the summer season. We care for your children and their safety, and as hard as we try to keep trained eyes on them at all times a life vest provides the extra level of love your young child obviously deserves. On that note please mark your calendars for our Summer Youth “On the Docks “Kid's Fishing Tournament scheduled for July 29th with a rain date of the 30th which will take place right out here in front of the Har-bor Grill …Saturday July 29th …9am on through 2pm, prizes and pizza to be provid-ed for all participants. As related to our adult Yachting scene, many have opted for the Bahamas during the summer months. It’s a great program if you can pull it off, but with more stories than fish reported thus far, save your money and sim-ply come sit poolside here at the club and enjoy a cocktail with your friends. Happy Summer 2017! If you have any ques-tions, concerns, positive input or simply want to sign up for one or several of our EGYC Summer venues, please remember that your Harbormaster's door is always open!

Summer has arrived and with it we are excited to present a myriad of changes. In the upcom-ing weeks you'll get to enjoy our new menu items. Sit by the pool and try our "best bloody burger" or 100% Angus beef hot dog. Couple them with a fruity sangria, or a refreshing "orange crush", our signature summer drink made with fresh squeezed Florida oranges.
We kicked off the summer with music by Calhoun's Calling, a two piece band that provided soulful tunes as our members enjoyed one of the best sunset spots in Brevard County. More great music to come! Look for Erick Esteves scheduled to play on Sunday, July 23rd, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm...we would also like to remind you of our summer hours: Tues-day, Wednesday & Thursday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, Friday 11:00 am - 10:00 pm and Satur-day & Sunday 11:00 am - 9:00 pm.We appreciate your enthusiamsm and look forward to catering to your summer fun!

The dog days of summer are upon us, or at least it seems so with record breaking temperatures (in Florida that is). I have spent the last six weeks traveling on our boat to Cape Cod. We have experienced everything from 45 degrees to 95 degrees. Talk about climate change! I hope everyone is enjoying themselves as much as I am. July is sure to be packed with great events at the Club, starting with the annual Fireworks display. There is nothing more enjoyable than sitting on the terrace with great friends and enjoying the view. Women’s Council continues to host the Book Club on the 13th where we are discussing “Life After Life” by Kate Atkinson, as well as Happy Hour on the 18th. Both are always a good time, with lively conversations. We are well underway with collecting your favorite recipes to put in our “Taste of Eau Gallie Cookbook”. Keep sending your recipes to Janice Ricketts at [email protected]. August will be upon us before we know it. That means the Club will be closed for the first 2 weeks. With that in mind, we will not be hosting our Book Club or Happy Hour, however, that us plenty of time to put the final details on our Land and Sea Fashion Show on Friday September 15. So mark your calendars now to be sure to get a look at some great Fall Fashions. Looking forward to seeing everyone around the Club.

Speaker 5/9/2017: Colonel Anthony Deane; Colonel U.S. Army Retired. Colonel Deane recently wrote and published and book entitled “Ramadi Declassified”. Col. Deane served in the Iraq war under the command of Colonel McFarland and was stationed at Camp Ramadi. Over 900 soldiers were stationed at the camp which covered 1.5 by 2.0 miles just outside of the city of Ramadi. Their primary mission was to establish relationships with the local tribal leaders to build and train an Iraqi Police Forces to establish security in Ramadi, and to partner with the Iraqi Army to help drive out the Al Qaeda forces. Their efforts help to initiate “The Awakening” movement
that help to unite the Iraqi people. Colonel Deane shared many stories about the difficulties and success interacting with the Tribal Leaders, Shakes, and Iraqi people.

Speaker 6/6/2017: George Becker, Retired Photographer. Mr. Becker is well known to many of our members because he served as the Eau Gallie Yacht Club photographer for over 30 years. He is also a member of our local Rotary Club. George gave a very entertaining talk entitled “I’ve Had More Than Nine Lives”. Several examples were from his childhood which included, being bitten by a water moccasin in the Boy Scouts, falling under a moving freight train, surviving hurricane Donna in 1962, being stalked by killer whales while surfing, and totaling four cars in his teen years. As an adult, he was shot at while he was driving
a cab to put himself through school, but the best story was when his last marriage ended in divorce, his wife hired a hit man to have him killed. She is now serving time in prison.
Speaker 5/16/2017: Altair Watson, Financial Advisor for Edward Jones, EGYC Member. Ms. Watson demonstrated the importance of saving and the effect of inflation by starting her talk with a Price Is Right game in which we were to guess the prices of items such as Snickers bars, and MacDonald burgers in the 1960 and 70s. Edward Jones is a privately/employee owned investment company with over a trillion dollars in assets. Her talk was mostly driven by questions and answers. Technology (Facebook, Netflix, Google, Amazon) and ETF funds are currently doing very well. Water and food will still be important commodities in the future. As interest rates increase, tax free Mini Bond, will
become better investments. Retirement age for Social Security will increase to the 70s for younger people. Investing in annuities to fund future retirements will become necessary.
All recipes must be submitted by August 31 for editing and publishing.

"Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson What if you could live again and again, until you got it right?
On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born to an English banker and his wife. She dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon
a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in a variety of ways, while the young century marches on towards its
second cataclysmic world war. There is no charge for this event as it is during the regular EGYC happy hour.
