Veronica Roth Veronica Roth is the author of three books: Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant. In Roth’s personal bio its says she is an “American novelist and short story writer known for her debut New York Times Bestselling novels Divergent and Insurgent”. Her third book, Allegiant, was released in October 2013. During an interview Veronica had stated, “I mean it’s crazy, you don’t even think at 22, your book is even going to be a book. Let alone possibly adapted for film.” Many people are inspired by Veronica Roth because, she is now only 25 and, has three amazing novels. Although if your not very into reading, her first book Divergent, has now been released as a movie. The 5 factions In the novel Divergent, there are five factions. Candor, “the honest”, Abnegation, “the selfless”, Amity, “the peaceful”, Dauntless, “the brave”, And Erudite, “the intelligent”. An online source had said, “The society's motto is Faction before blood.” Also this source said, “When you turn 16, you are given the choice to stay with the faction you were born into or leave them to live the rest of your life with another. Those who switch factions are viewed as traitors. In most cases your own family won't even visit you or have anything to do with you ever again if you switch.” Most people that read this book, or that seen the movie have all said, “If I had to choose to stay with my family or leave them, I would stay. I would not be a traitor and betray them.” The five factions were formed in the first place because the Society was afraid if they didn’t break everyone up into five factions, War would take place.

Amity the Peaceful Faction Amity is known for being the peaceful faction because, Amity just wants to have peace and get along. Amity is the faction that dislikes war. They formed Amity in the first place, to have a peaceful society free from conflict and sadness caused by wars. Some people say, that people from this faction are called “the peace makers and the peace keepers.” They are called this because, they like to make peace and to keep the world, a happy and a war free place.

Did you know that red and yellow are two colours that, symbolize peace. Since the faction Amity, is “The peaceful” faction, they wear the colours red and yellow. In the book Divergent it stated, “A group of Amity girls in yellow and red sit in a circle on the cafeteria floor, playing some kind of hand-slapping game involving a rhyming song.” This being said that the Amity is a peaceful faction by, being peaceful and not disturbing any others. So Amity is the peace faction.
