  • SITUATION

Melbury Bubb is a peaceful hamlet lying within an Area of

Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the village of Chetnole

which has a branch line (Weymouth to Cardiff) railway

station as well as an award winning pub. Yeovil, Dorchester

and Sherborne are all within easy motoring distance. All

have mainline rail connections as well as an excellent range

of cultural and sporting amenities. The area is well served

by a number of very good and well known state and

independent schools for boys and girls of all ages.

    PROPERTY

Melbury Bubb House has 18th century origins and was

significantly enlarged in the late 19th century. It displays a

wealth of features from both periods including, two

staircases, sash windows, shutters, panelled doors and some

    original fireplaces.

The well proportioned drawing room and dining room have

fine bay windows with stunning views. The kitchen/family

room has recently been extended and is the natural heart of

the house with its electric Aga, seating area and LPG

wood-burning stove. Triple bi-fold doors open on to the

sunny south facing courtyard. The large adjoining boot

room has a tiled floor, vaulted ceiling, and its own

    back entrance.

On the first floor is a landing with study area. The master

    bedroom and guest bedroom both have en-suite bathrooms;

there are four further bedrooms and two bathrooms.

All bedrooms have built in wardrobes and wonderful views.

  • GARDENS & GROUNDS

Two vehicular accesses serve the property; electric remote

operated gates lead to a gravelled drive with parking for

several vehicles close to the front door. The second drive

leads to a double garage and additional parking. Adjacent to

the kitchen/family room is an enclosed courtyard, partly

cobbled with a raised fishpond and flowerbed. In front of

the house is a former grass tennis court with spectacular

long range countryside views. There is a large pond with

landscaped gardens around it and a synthetic putting green.

The covered heated swimming pool has a changing area.

The timber outbuildings include a run of five stables and a

potting shed. Beside the garages is a further yard with a

large workshop/barn with two first floor offices, two stables

(one is used as an artists studio) and two kennels with

runs. There are two paddocks with a field shelter.
